Sobakawa or buckwheat pillows can be molded to fit around the mask, disturbing it less.
That's a good idea! I sent away for a latex cushion to cut up to make a cutaway pillow, but with buckwheat one could make the case the shape one wants, then just fill it with buckwheat, I suppose.

JT said: During my sleep study my AHI was 70.3, ~85% of my events were centrals. Straight cpap @7cm controlled them during the study. I'm using the S9 Auto with good results. Generally my CA's are 0, some nights it logs a few. Wow! That's very encouraging, JT. Pugsy said: "You might want to check fo...

Re: 5 New Ways to Prevent Diabetes
"If you're already diabetic, new research suggests that getting treated for sleep apnea could help control your blood glucose levels. After meals, people with severe sleep apnea had blood glucose levels almost twice as high as did those without the condition". Ah! Is this connected with the fact tha...

Re: CENTRAL APNOEA - Which Resmed?
This is all that the screen tells me about my overnight results. Only one night was longer than 4 hours, namely last night, Thursday night. I started with this machine on Wednesday night - seems like longer, already. Wednesday - afternoon nap - 0.8 hrs AHI 5.2 Overnight sleep Wednesday - 5.4 hrs. AH...

Re: CENTRAL APNOEA - Which Resmed?
Thanks, folks. Yes, I was a bit sick at having to plough through the Respironics unit after having gathered, as I thought, that one of the ResMed units would be better. I think I failed on that fairly well, though! I'm glad to be able to squeeze in a week or maybe more on the ResMed, and halfway thr...

CENTRAL APNOEA - Which Resmed?
I have had one night so far on a ResMed Auto which I can have for a week or so past my one-month CPAP machine trial (I missed some days of therapy because the consultant forgot to include a water tank with an exchanged machine and had to post one). My impression from reading is that even people with...

Re: Brand New User: APAP makes me MORE Tired!!
Thanks for that - it makes me extra glad I backed out of the purchase. I have an old piece of latex I thought I could double over and create a pillow out of, but find it is so old it is crumbling away on the surface. Latex is pretty expensive, but it's not going to cost as much to buy a whole 3 x 6 ...

Re: Brand New User: APAP makes me MORE Tired!!
I liked the sound of the contoured pillow, Mozart, and went to the site. I tried to order one, along with a pillow case, but found they only sell to the US. However, their Ebay shop does sell overseas, on http://stores.ebay.com/Contour-Products/_i.html?rt=nc&_sid=104928831&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1581...

Re: Puff 'n' Suck Phenomenon
Happy to report that I was given a ResMed to try today and I can have it until I see the specialist. ResMed S9. The results I couldn't find with SleepyHead were safely retrieved and seemed to indicate that the first Respironics machine I had treated me better than the second one. Apparently the firs...

Re: Puff 'n' Suck Phenomenon
Sorry and thanks, Archangle. I'm taking this machine back tomorrow, and hope never to see it again. When I get fixed up with another, I'll have another go at entering the equipment data and downloading the records. I don't know what I'm doing or have done wrong, but I'll have another attempt at down...

Actually when I put the card back in I looked at the screen, and it said, "Data Authority. Do Not Remove Card".
Too late.
Hmm.

Re: Puff 'n' Suck Phenomenon
Thanks, Pugsy. I think you're right, I was probably in one position too long. Pain yes, but joints, and specific ones, not "everything hurts". I guess I was so deeply asleep I didn't move. So far I haven't had joy with the SD card - two more nights and it still says no data. The mask/breathing busin...

Re: Why do we abandon ship?
The problems must outweigh the benefits. I have an eighty year old friend who has been loaned a Respironics for her obstructive apnoea ("the worst the doctor had ever seen"). While she was trialling various brands before they gave her this one, she trialled the ResMed, which was perfect for her. But...
