Upper Air Resistance and Resmed S9 AutoSet
http://www.resmed.com/fr/assets/documents/product/s9_series/1013916_s9-autoset_white-paper.pdf I was reading that Resmed has updated the AutoSet algorithm to detect UARS. This peaked my interested. I have a S9 AutoSet which is about 5 years old and it is terrible at UARS detection. Any idea when thi...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Muscle Twitching, Cramps, Fibromyalgia
Your situation is something I can relate to - once fit and active ended up in a wheelchair, heart infection and 20kg underweight. 9 months later I'm walking about 5km a day and started mountain biking again (all be it very short/flat runs). I dont believe there is simple answer however you might fin...

Re: Developing central sleep apnoea?
I'm still wondering if central apnoea is emerging when I actually treat obstructive or resistance issues. The trend seems to be, when I up the pressure or use a FFM, flow limitations stop and centrals seem to cluster (note I use a FFM for only the first couple of hours). http://i1382.photobucket.com...

Thanks - good to get first hand experience.M'ohms wrote:I'll say that ASV has made no difference to me with regards to the gas problem. Sometimes the way I sleep causes dry mouth/gas, and sometimes it doesn't. None of the 3 machines I've been on makes any difference in these matters.

Gastric insufflation and ASV
Hi, I was researching swallowing air while on positive pressure as it is something I'm experiencing. Barry Krakow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSZ36gfLhpY) goes as far as suggesting ASV for some patients as a last restore. Does anyone know why ASV technology would actually help with not swallowi...

Re: Developing central sleep apnoea?
my thinking is that's where the centrals are coming from... his respiratory reflex "passing out" as it were I was thinking about it. The tidal volume should be a key metric, i.e. if one is hyperventilating, breath would be too quick and/or deep thus the greater volume. The two nights do have differ...

Re: Developing central sleep apnoea?
Last night (before I read your post), I lowered the IPAP - 12 and kept the EPAP of 5. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah277/gary1001001/13_zpsf34e3b1d.png As you can see, the centrals are completely gone however the crappy flow curve returned . I also felt crappy this morning - hit by a bus. htt...

Re: Developing central sleep apnoea?
you may just be hyperventilating yourself with that 11ps. Yea, thats something to consider. It looks odd having an EPAP of 5, but is just felt so much easier to breath. After reading this wiki entry on UARS, http://www.cpaptalk.com/wiki/index.php/Upper_Airway_Resistance_Syndrome it made some sense....

Developing central sleep apnoea?
I've been trying a Bi-Level machine (resmed S9 VPAP S) to see how it feels. The short of it is, its great. Much easier to breath and its really cut down on flow limitation events which may have been linked to UARS. Its early but I also feel better. However, I've noticed a sharp increase in central e...

Old thread but....
Any idea if the fans/motors in the S9 series are interchangeable? I.e, are the VPAP motors the same as the elite or autoset?

Re: Frustration
It just felt like the EPR didn't really detect when I was breathing in. How does Bi-flex from respironics compare? More sensitive at the switch from out to in?palerider wrote:bi-level is just a souped up EPR.

Re: Frustration
Over the last few weeks I’ve been monitoring what helps and what hinders. I believe the S9 Auto is almost 100% effective at treating mild apnoea, however there is some kind of UARS that is really causing the non-restorative sleep. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah277/gary1001001/11_zps022df7cf....
