Re: DH's first night!
I'm also a spouse and not an actual user myself. My husband has been on the machine for almost 3 months and it has made a great improvement in our lives. It's nice that your husband is so willing to wear the mask even for naps. It's so important. Definitely provide some positive reinforcement for hi...

New reason to love my DME
I wish it were a national chain so more of you could enjoy them like I do. They are associated with our local hospital and have been stellar. I just got confirmation of that in the mail today. My husband was diagnosed in Nov last year when we had already met our almost $6,000 deductible. All of his ...

Re: Best place to get your CPAP machine and mask in Dalton area
I'm kinda close to you, but probably not close enough for you to use my DME. I live in the Maryville/Knoxville area and use Blount Home Health which is associated with our local hospital. My only complaint so far is that they are a bit overpriced as compared to buying supplies from this forum's spon...

Re: I always have nostril congested, even at sleep.
I had a badly deviated septum. One nostril was ALWAYS feeling congested. If someone would have covered my mouth and plugged my good nostril, I couldn't have lasted 5 minutes. I had it surgically corrected 12/11 and it was the smartest thing I have done in a long time. I always wondered how people br...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Alcoholic beverage Consumptions
My husband has found that one drink a few hours before bed won't affect his AHI, but two or more OR drinking right before going to bed will take his AHI from 1ish to 2.5-3ish. I'm sure people are different. I tracked his with the journal section of Sleepyhead to find the correlation. Between diagnos...

Re: I'm guessing that i need to drop my pressure
That is weird that dropping the pressure created more centrals!! Oh, and that would be super annoying to pay out of pocket for a sleep study and then have a good night. Ugh. Well, I don't know what else to suggest other than a journal to find a pattern. And...for the record...I was giving the CAI Ja...

Re: I'm guessing that i need to drop my pressure
James has more centrals on nights that he's stressed, has more than one drink, or takes melatonin. Maybe it would be a good idea to keep a journal (there is a journal section in SH) of as many different variables you can think of to try to discern a pattern. James's nights don't vary as widely as yo...

James's RT said that nasal pillows fit better if put in while there's airflow, so he has never used it.

Re: CPAP Hose Cleaning and a brief sideline about humidifiers
I do not clean my husband's hose every day. My RT said once a week is fine. I would not put anything but distilled water in the humidifier. Some people put aromatherapy essential oils in a small container near the air intake for the blower, but not inside the machine, humidifier, or mask. I have no ...

This thread is an oldy, but since it was started before my time here on the forum I didn't get a chance to say congratulations on quitting smoking!
So, congrats!!
And glad you're on APAP now for the apnea, but I bet quitting smoking was harder.
