Re: SleepWeaver 'elan' Fabric is better than silicone

I appreciate the problems people are having with leaks into the eyes. I now use a black head band that I got from eBay which is very soft and comfortable. I cover my eyes and the band stops any leaks and makes for a much more comfortable sleep. This is a link to the head bands. I hope it helps. http...

Re: Is cleaning an issue?

I am sorry I have upset so many people. There are good and bad bacteria and too much bad bacteria will cause us to get gastro or depending how bad the bacteria are can kill us. This is via the gastric system not the respiratory system! Regardless of what a lot of people are saying, mold spores are d...

Is cleaning an issue?

I can't believe that people don't seem to worry about cleaning their equipment. Just because you use distilled water to fill the humidifier doesn't mean it remains clean. Mold spores with grow in areas that remain damp and regardless of whether the water is distilled or not, pouring new distilled wa...

What AHI reading is acceptable on CPAP?

I am wondering what is an acceptable reading for apneas per hour while being treated with the CPAP? Should our AHI be zero if our treatment is successful, or is that too much to expect?

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

Enghelp: I too appreciate you being on the site and asking for opinions and suggestions on how to improve mask fit. I liked an earlier suggestion someone had about having the ability to direct the masks venting to where it is most convenient. That would be especially useful in the winter. I would l...

Re: Mask straps hurt the back of my head - will a head cap work?

Are you bald? Sometimes it's a good idea to run a knife over the edges of sharp head gear. I am female but found I had to do that as the head gear hurt my face. Just rub the blade of a knife back and forward along the edges.

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

I'd like to see more fabric masks like SleepWeaver. The comfort level of these masks is so superior to any other mask. Surely other companies could look at making masks in fabric. There are no rainouts and no marks left on your face. By far the best mask available at present for me.

Re: "Minimal contact" mask recommendations

I don't know about minimal contact but the SleepWeaver 'Elan' is so comfortable and has no real pressure. It's the only mask with no silicone bits which I find unbearable.

Re: goggles with WISP?

I use makeup remover pads taped with 'MICROPORE' surgical tape. I put the tape in a 'V' shape under my eyes which stops leaks entering my eyes. I use these every night and it works extremely well. My eyes used to run all day as a result of the air blowing into them all night and they were itchy and ...

? SD Card replacement

Do I have to buy a specific ResMed SD card for my ResMed CPAP machine or can I just use any brand of SD card? I would have thought any SD card would work but I am cautious when it comes to medical equipment when they specify to get a ResMed one. Has anyone used any other brand? And how long does a S...

Re: High leakage but AHI down. Is this a problem?

Thank you all for your help. I was of the belief that any more than 3 lts per minute was high but now after hearing your remarks, I'm going okay. This is why a support group is such a great thing! When we make a mistake we don't have to feel stupid in front of anyone. Thanks again!

High leakage but AHI down. Is this a problem?

If I am having high leakage but only having 0.6 AHI per hour on CPAP, should I worry about the leakage rate or consider that before CPAP I had a AHI reading of 38 and I should be happy with such a good AHI of 0.6?

Re: Hot Flashes and CPAP

Hot flushes were a major problem to me when I first started CPAP. I just couldn't use any of the silicone masks without getting into a lather of sweat. After trying so many, I got onto the fabric mask SleapWeaver "Elan". It made the world of difference. I understand what you are going through. The S...
