Re: S9 Humidifier Water Chamber and Mineral water

if vinegar doesn't do it - CLR ( calcium lime remover) certainly will - it's available at hardware stores and most supermarkets with the cleaning solutions.

Re: Latest ASV?

that's the one that i have based on what i was told by the people here - it seems just about perfect - controls my apnea beter than the respironics 950 (theoretically the same unit without the heated hose)

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Really good advice about the the 02 monitoring with alarm. I imagine they'd have such devices in a rehab. I know they do finger pulse ox during rehab sessions but I'm not sure every shift knows about his apnea or monitors him very much, there's been so much else going on with him that I probably ha...

Re: Vegetarians Less Healthy, Lower Quality Of Life Than Meat-Ea

I'm vegan entirely because i don't want to kill animals or see them suffer to feed me. If it's healthier than eating meat than that's all just gravy for me(pitiful pun intended). For my age i'm not in very good physical condition and i've been vegan for something like 30 years ( before there really ...

Re: Anyone try dental device for apnea?

I have a dental appliance that was custom made by my dentist ( i can get the brand name if interested - began with a K- something like kevlar) and it pushes the lower jaw forward. Based on in hospital sleep tests it does little to nothing on its own in lowering my ahi score. However i've found empir...

Re: Hi, i've been missing for quite awhile

I want to thank everyone here for being so very very kind in their comments to me. It really made a huge differenece although I'm embarrassed to admit at how depressed and out of it i remain. So far i've been unable to use the cpap at all as i feel that i am being smothered by it but i only sleep a ...

Re: Hi, i've been missing for quite awhile

I know the dance, John. And you also know that it might not have made any difference except that she died at home in her own bed. So true. My grandmother died at home, the morning after a trip the ER and being sent home "fine". That was almost 20 years ago. Sometimes, they just can't find anything ...

Re: Hi, i've been missing for quite awhile

John, We don't know each other but I am so sorry for your loss. We have all lost someone we loved deeply and faced guilt over or actions or non-actions. What you have written touched me deeply. I have a younger brother who cares nothing for me or anyone else. Your sister was blessed to have you to ...

Re: Hi, i've been missing for quite awhile

You have to begin to come to grips with this, John. Think about the things you loved about her so much, maybe seek help with a professional. In a way I had a similar situation with my father. It took me a long time to get over it but I finally did. I had to keep telling myself over and over that I ...

Re: Denial. Why did you decide to try a CPAP?

I had the "advantage" that the first i ever heard of sleep apnea was from a friend of the family - Ann Marie - who lived in North Carolina had like 5 kids and was one of the most active and involved persons i've ever met - a true fireplug. She was in her late 40s. FIrst she or anyone knew of this, s...

Re: Hi, i've been missing for quite awhile

Lena is so right. You get to be human in this, John. You deserve compassion, not self-reproach. seriously, i was there, I REALLY screwed up. I'll never really get over this, i'll try to move on because i have to for friends and other family but i will blame myself every day for the rest of my life....
