Re: Gall bladder issues
I still have mine, but get attacks every 1-3 months when I don't eat right. Since its still healthy (just acting up every 1-3 months due to diet), the surgeon doesn't want to take it out. if you're having problems that often, you may want to consider scheduled routine surgery before it turns into a...

Floor fan or an old-fashioned white noise machine. Not one of the cheap pre-recorded noise makers either, something that causes the noise by the movement of air.

Re: Newbie. How keep the mask on?
Possibly one important thing to remember is to not get upset or mad that you slept without the mask. Instead, try to figure out why you're taking it off (too tight? too loose? leaky? humidity? temperature? stuffy nose?). About once a month I'll have a night where I take the mask off and sleep withou...

Re: Some more questions from a newbie
I wipe my mask down every morning using Pampers Thick Wipes for Sensitive Skin. You can also use the generic brand. Be sure the baby wipes have no alcohol or aloe. Alcohol will damage the mask plastic and aloe will leave a film. I have some of those as well. They're good for a general wipe down eve...

Re: wrestling with my hose
Actually, you can get that with both thin and regular diameter hoses. It's annoying, but I just tuck my CPAP hose under the covers with me and everything soon sorts itself out. It used to drive me crazy, but I hardly notice it anymore. That being said, I do wish that hoses, in general, were a bit m...

Re: working with S9 autoset
Personally, I wouldn't bother to change anything for a week or two unless you: - Start seeing multiple nights with an AHI above 2-3 - Have aerophagia issues - Encounter leaks - The pressure line constantly bumps up against your max pressure (your 95% number is about 15) Otherwise it looks nice and c...

Re: How often to have follow up visits?
My first follow-up was 6 weeks after I got the machine. Mostly for insurance reasons and to see if I had any questions about the machine / therapy. Since I had already been changing my settings and taking charge of my therapy - there wasn't much to talk about. Next appointment is 6 months after the ...

Re: What temp do you set for your heated humidifier?
65F during the summer.
Currently have it turned up to about 78F since it's getting cooler at night and I haven't turned the heat on (so the bedroom gets down to a nice and pleasant 60-65F).

Re: Full Face Mask
Quattro FX is popular, but I had trouble with leaks between the eyes because the mask would get pushed around if I tried to sleep on my side (even with a CPAP pillow). Mirage Quattro is very similar to the QFX, but has the forehead stabilizer which makes it less prone to shifting. So far I'm pretty ...

Re: Can't Handle the Pressure!!
Ramp is tool. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes not. When I started CPAP in August, I used the ramp with a 5 minute setting. Then I ran without it for a while, now that I've upped my pressures again, I'm using it at 5 minutes again for a bit. However, I think that when using the ramp feature, you sho...

Re: Can Data Tell If I Have a Mask Problem?
Just as a counterpoint, I have a full beard, but didn't have much issues with leaks with either the QFX or the Mirage Quattro masks. In fairness, my beard is a bit thin along the sides of the mouth and under the lips, so there's not as much hair there. And I keep that part of my beard trimmed up a b...

Re: How long did it take before you knew cpap worked?
I was one of those lucky ones. While I slept horribly at the sleep lab, they were still able to titrate me a pressure. But I had extra energy the next two days and got lots of stuff done. Then I had to wait 3-4 weeks for them to review the results, order a machine, deal with the DME, force the DME t...

I'm debating whether I want to order a new cushion for my MQ in another week or two, or try out a new mask.

Re: Quattro higher pressure mask issue
You may also want to consider trying a different FFM. As much as I loved my Quattro FX at the start (it's not a bad mask), it would always get pushed up easily and leak between the eyes. On the Mirage Quattro, there's a forehead stabilizer bar that keeps that from happening. Plus the straps go aroun...
