Re: How accurate titration studies since most don't sleep good??
I think it's more criminal not to prescribe the full-data machines. I was titrated at 8cm at the sleep lab, but the doctor wrote out for an S9 Autoset at 4-20. Since I could download flow data into Sleepyhead I was able to look and see that 4cm was too low (bumped it up to 7cm as a minimum) and that...

Re: Please update. Favorite mask and why
If the QFX is leaking up around the eyes because it's getting pushed up, try something like the Mirage Quattro which has the forehead stabilizer bar. That's what did the trick for me (I swapped masks last week from a Quattro FX to the MQ).

Re: Sleep Study is done...
I find the notes section in Sleepyhead is good for keeping track of how I felt, or when I got a new mask, or changed settings, or if I had sleeping issues.
Now, I just wish there was a way to dump out a diary type output with your weight, AHI, hours of sleep and the notes field, without any graphs.

Re: Insomnia
Sleep hygiene (as I understand it) is basically: - The bedroom is only for sleeping and sex. No reading, TV watching, gaming, web browsing, work. - Don't lie awake in bed for more then 15-20 minutes, get up and go to the living room until you're sleepy again - Try to go to bed same time each evening...

Re: Can I be reconditioned to sleep on my back?
My pressure definitely changes when I'm on my back. Goes from needing 9-11cm to keep things working up to about 13-ish. I had a terrible time at the start with the Quattro FX FFM and sleeping on my side, it would always get pushed up and start leaking between the eyes. Even a CPAP pillow (one of the...

Re: Thinking of turning off the ramp thing
I still run with a 5 minute ramp. But I'm also debating doing without it.
The EPR setting seems to make more of a difference to my comfort level.

Re: Cpap machine pressure?
EPR or the A/C flex I think can make a difference. I start the night at 7cm, usually end up 11-13 by the middle of the night. I don't notice it after only a few weeks. I also end up holding my hand in front of the exhaust port to check to see if it's on, then roll over and see that the pressure is i...

Re: What type of pillow do you use?
If I'm on my back, I use a very thin hypo-allergenic pillow (also about 1.5-2.0 inches thick).
If I'm on my side, then I use one of the pillows here at cpap.com. Which I'm pretty happy with so far.

Re: PLEASE Help! Mask woes!
if the quattro leaks at the eyes it is riding too high. if it can't be lowered it might be the wrong size. don't trust the dme to fit you. go to cpap.com, find the mask and in the links on the page find the sizing and fitting instructions. your face is not one size and don't let the dme say it is. ...

Re: exhausted new cpap user
About a week after I got my machine, I went with a Double Edge PAPillow with Pillow Cover. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/papillow-cpap-pillow-with-pillow-cover.html For best results and no mask leaks with the Quattro FX FFM, I was sleeping on my back. Which isn't always comfortable and I like to ...

Re: Length
Definitely download your data and run it through Sleepyhead or the ResMed software. I found it made a huge difference for me because I was no longer in the dark of "is it working?" "did I leak?" "how does it adjust pressure during the night?" "how long did I have it on?". I think that helped my earl...

Re: From the time you started, to noticing life improvements
About a weekend. After the first few nights, I found myself no longer needing to nap in the middle of the afternoon in order to not feel like a zombie. By the end of the first week, I was feeling productive and non-cranky. It's been up/down since then. If I get a good 5-6 hours, then I'm good to go ...

Re: It's official i am hooked up now and did it by myself!
I use the FX FFM as well, and my main issues with it are leaks up around the area between the eyes. If the mask gets pushed up at night (such as when I roll onto my side), I get a leak up there. Other then that I've been happy with the FX. Currently wrassling with the CPAP pillow to see if I can fin...

Re: A Break in Therapy
Note that the newer Smart-UPS machines are not compatible with apcupsd, not unless you also buy the "legacy" card to install inside the unit.
Older units from a few years ago are fine.

Re: What do you talk about with your sleep Dr?
Appts last about 3 min. Assistant takes my BP and has me fill out questionaire. Dr (pulmonologist) looks at it, adds up #'s, compares it to last appt. Better or same - great, see you in 6 months. If I was getting visits that short / abrupt, then I'd only go in when things changed or when required t...
