Re: Narrow Nose Bridge=LEAKS!
On my face, I have to tighten the micro-fit dial on the MQ all the way down to avoid it leaking. I also found that it's prone to leaking between the eyes at pressures above 17. Since my pressures are well below 17 currently and I got a fit that doesn't leak, I haven't gone and looked at Padacheek or...

Re: Feels like machine is not working
At least once a week I'll wake up, think the machine isn't working or that I forgot to hook up the hose, and will have to wave my hand in front of the exhaust vents on the mask to feel for the air flow.

Re: Sleeping on back
My home-study box also had a motion sensor which told the doctor whether I was on my back / side / stomach. My personal recommendations are: - Get a machine with full data. - Get an auto-titrating machine if the doctor agrees. The first ensures that you can monitor your own therapy and make adjustme...

Plus, with the SD cards, they have a sliding lock that puts the card in read-only mode. Take it out of the machine, slide the switch to the lock position, put it in the computer to be read by Sleepyhead. Take it out of the computer, slide it back to unlocked position and put it back in the machine. ...

Re: I Hate My CPAP!
I slept on my back with the Quattro FX mask for the first month or so of treatment, pressure was up in the 11-13 range (95% number was 13.5). After issues with sciatica being aggravated when I was on my back, I had to switch to the Mirage Quattro mask and sleep on my side. And I only need a pressure...

Re: What does your insurance cover?
Our Oxford/unitedhealth plan is 100% coverage, with an annual limit on disposables of $1500/yr. Since I have yet to see any bills at all, I'm inclined to believe the insurance rep.

Re: 1st night sleepyhead reports! What is "normal" for leaks?
Well your small batch of leaks at around the 22:40 mark also occurred around the same time as some CA/OA. So you might want to keep an eye on that over the next week. Maybe the mask leaks slightly when you rolled over and you lose enough therapeutic pressure to keep the airways open. Or maybe your m...

Re: How do I stop myself taking mask off while asleep?
So far in my six weeks I've: Woken up thinking I was going to get up, took the mask off, then fell back asleep. Now I've schooled myself to not take the mask / hose off until I'm sitting up on the edge of the bed. Nearly fell asleep with the mask on, but the hose not connected. First mask was slight...

And once in to the clinic menu, you have to press the knob once more so that you can adjust individual rows on that screen. Otherwise the knob rotation just scrolls through the different screen icons down the left side.

Re: Choking when falling asleep
You also need to find a mask that you trust not to leak and which is comfortable. My first mask was fiddly, so I'd lay down and worry a bit about leaks. Latest mask is solid fit and once the mask is inflated, comfortable. I can roll over from one side to the other and not worry about leaks. So now I...

Re: EPR or not? Questions about getting started
I like EPR at 3 as well. Less then that and I didn't care for how it felt, like I was struggling to breathe out. It was one of the first settings I fiddled with during the first few weeks. Originally, I used a ramp of 5 minutes. Recently, I turned that off now that I'm used to the machine. But my pr...

Re: Newly Diagnosed
Mine started wide-open at 4-20. After a week or two of looking at my data in Sleepyhead, I tightened that up to 7-16. The 7 is because that was what looked like the minimum pressure that the machine liked to use most nights. The 16 was because I was getting aerophagia and mask leaks above that point...

Re: Stats, Bathroom (or dog) breaks, and CPAP
Yeah, for the last 2-3 years before treatment I was having to get up pretty much every hour starting in the early morning hours and onward. 3-5 times each night. Plus it was leaving me dehydrated all the time and I was having to use eyedrops on a regular basis in order to keep my vision clear. Prost...
