Re: Test User's Overview of Apnicure's Winx system

I was away on vacation - sorry for the late response. Unfortunately, it didn't make my residual sleepiness better despite very good numbers at the sleep study. I would judge it to improve my sleep about 20% compared to 30-40% from xPAP. (This may have nothing to do with Winx, but rather my weird sle...

Re: Help! Resmed S9 VPAP Adapt newbie

Your machine is also pretty "wide open", meaning - you can be breathing at a very low pressure (EPAP = 4cm) and in with that much, or it can go all the way up to 19. With an ASV, it can do that on a single breath - good for treating centrals, bad in terms of suddenness. It might be more comfortable ...

Re: Swift LT question

You can disable the ramp if you don't want it. It's purely a comfort feature.

Many people cannot tolerate 4cm or 5cm because it's too low - it feels smothering.

Re: Sleeping on your stomach

Sleep in whatever position works best for you.

If you stomach sleep with CPAP, then you'll get used to scrunching the pillow and hanging over the side without even waking up.

Nice catch! Could have gone on longer.

And that's a large amount of change - are you trying to go ASV?

Re: Back from vacation, had a wake up call!

It's called a bed and breakfast because you lay awake in bed hoping for breakfast to arrive :p

just kidding, but I agree: two-prong outlets are ridiculous these days, and I think against the electrical codes. Means they've not needed to have it passed in years, I believe.

Re: Swift FX v Swift LT: your thoughts

The swift FX and LT pillow sizes are a bit different. So if you're between a size on the FX or LT, the other one might fit better. (For example, I'm a L on the LT, but on the FX the L is too big) I prefer the overhead routing on the LT, and also the stiffer tube to connect with. The reason is I toss...

Re: Learn me about hypopneas please

hypopneas are like apneas, but you have less obstruction. They can be just as disruptive to sleep, however.

If you're feeling great and the AHI is below 5, I would say don't worry about it.

The most comfortable mask is the one that fits your face. Try as many as you can, and don't worry about what anybody "says" about them being comfortable or not.

Re: Going on 7 months, no luck with a mask

It took me 3 months just to fall asleep with cpap on, another 6 months to sleep the whole night.

Every step is a victory, if a small one. Don't discount it!

Re: Weird day--question about pressure setting

Is your machine in CPAP (continuous) or APAP (auto-adjusting) mode?

I wouldn't sweat a bad night, though if your AHI remains above 3 you may want to fiddle a bit. Adjusting things slowly and with a plan is a good idea!
