Anyone know the Kaiser in Redwood City?
My 91 year old mother was just diagnosed w/ severe sleep apnea and goes to Kaiser in Redwood City, CA. I know Kaiser's protocols pretty well but it's been a few years and I was at the Sacramento Kaiser. Knowing how Kaiser does (or used to do) everything in sleep medicine with "classes" I'm not sure ...

Re: Full Face Mask AND Taping Mouth Shut?
I think it's pretty funny that others criticized the idea with aboslutly no knowledge of why you would do it. I get why you are doing it but if you're taping your mouth there is NO reason to be using a FFM .. That’s how I feel too, but I convinced my friend a while back to try a nasal pillow mask, ...

Re: Full Face Mask AND Taping Mouth Shut?
David, I have a friend on CPAP who uses a full face mask and tapes her mouth. Though it sounds to me like the worst of both worlds she says she does it because even with a full face mask, if her mouth falls open during the night she will wake up in the morning with a very dry mouth.

What Kathy said.
We have a friend with post polio syndrome who does not have sleep apnea, but she uses a CPAP machine sometimes during the day because it makes breathing easier.

Re: OT: Sad News...
I still find this whole forum/board thing a little odd in how much I care about people I've never met face-to-face. I understand the advantages of anonymity and privacy. But there are people on this forum who have died that I would have driven more than a day's drive away to attend their funeral, h...

Re: Aloha pillow mask nose sores :(
Decided to give a try to Aloha nasal pillow mask. Price is rather lower than other masks and I’m starting to worry if this is an indicator of the quiality? I hope it's not an indicator of quality – I've been using the Aloha for over 5 years without any significant skin irritation, and suddenly I'm ...

Re: Forced by job to get testing and CPAP I don't need..
An in-lab or hospital sleep study will be able to determine when you are asleep vs. awake based on EEG which measures electrical activity in the brain. So if you can sleep for a decent period of time you should have a valid sleep study. Hopefully your AHI will be below 5. If you do have to get a CPA...

Re: BEWARE spammer HJYXWZ
The dispensaries here have been strict -- I couldn't go into them with my hubby because I did not have a medical clearance letter for myself. He said the people running the dispensary were quite helpful and made recommendations based on what you're using it for -- pain relief, sleep, etc. I can hone...

Re: BEWARE spammer HJYXWZ
I'm open to trying something edible to help with sleep once it becomes legal in California January 1st. The trick will be finding a low carb edible. At medical mj dispensaries you can buy it in softgel form. Hubs was given a medical mj letter from the doctor about a year ago and buys from a medical...

Verus no longer providing Eson mask
We were surprised today when we called Verus to re-order our supplies and we were told that they no longer provide the Eson nasal mask. This must have happened fairly recently. The Verus rep didn't know if it was a manufacturer discontinuation or just Verus deciding to stop carrying it. DH will have...
