Re: My Antique is Dead
I infer from your profile that you're soon to be getting a PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Machine with C-Flex Plus: Just a word. You usually can dumb down an Auto machine to be a CPAP but you can't really 'smart up' a CPAP machine to be an Auto. Jez sayin'.

Re: Two steps backwards *sigh*
I've struggled with aerophagia too. The things that seemed to work for me are: --cpap mode of 11.8, rather than apap with a narrow range (11-12) --EPR of 2 --what I eat/drink: no caffeine (coffee or tea), no chocolate, no citrus fruits or juice, no carbonated beverages. Minimize anything fried or s...

Re: CPAP over Auto??
If your machine profile is correct, and you have the PR System One REMStar Pro CPAP Machine with Auto IQ, I think everybody needs to read this description and especially the caveat at the top, which I cut and pasted from Cpap.com: NOT EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT AUTO IQ IS PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Mac...

Re: I hate CPAP.
I was lying in bed last night, a little early for me at 9:30pm, so thought I'd take a little nap without the mask. First was the collapsing airway, then the 'SNORK' sound of trapped air... a few minutes later some snoring, then more waking and SNORKING; more tossing/turning; more frustration. After ...

Try the C-Flex exhale relief feature or the newer A-Flex inhale/exhale relief feature, both accessible thru the clinician's menu. Search for what they offer and the way to get into that menu using the search facility of this site. Either one encourages one to breathe in a regular pattern, especially...

Re: Possible Afib & Cpap????
This is totally anecdotal: but I had some minor episodes of AF during some very strenuous physical exercise (mt biking) just before starting XPAP this Spring and tho the episodes weren't too drastic and went away quickly, I felt worried. A heartbeat dropped here and there can be distressing. Since s...

I seem to be part of a growing trend that thinks avi123 is veering close to the edge. Where is the fine line between 'critical' and 'badgering''?

Re: Family member using the cpap less then half the night
Maybe print out some excerpts from various posts stating what the negative impacts are of limited or no XPAP use. I woundn't be above scare tactics. Given that, It's hard to change someone's habits, especially if they don't have concrete info/evidence right in front of their eyes. (I almost wrote: "...

Re: Did I ruin my Swift FX pillows?
I'm retired, so I have the time to spend on the stuff below... may not be too convenient for working folks! I usually soak my FX pillows every day in a mild solution of Palmolive anti-germicidal dish soap, ie. for about an hour. I've logged two months on this pair and can't say I see any difference,...

Re: Periodic Breathing with several events?
at what percent of the night would periodic breathing be a problem? i'm at 1.9% over the last 60 days. is that normal or a problem? I range from a PB rate of 0.3%, up to 2.0% of my total time with the machine on. However , my PB events almost always happen just before I fall asleep, or upon awakeni...

I'm not sure what's going on with this data being presented, being a newbie... but I'm going to bump it and see what happens. I'd like to see a discussion of flow vs pressure, in depth.

Re: Out of breath
At these levels, I find myself waking up sometimes, almost in a panic...like I'm breathing too fast....it feels like the machine is causing me to breathe too fast, which wakes me up... You unfortunately didn't list your equipment in your profile... so just guessing, but I had a problem with earlier...

Re: Gentle ways to tape?
Sorry gang. You will NEVER get me taping, strapping or using headgear to hold my mouth closed to prevent mouth breathing. For one thing I get congested at night. And for another thing I had a friend whose mouth was taped. He vomited, aspirated the vomit and died, leaving a widow and two kids. His n...
