Re: Argh my CPAP slid off the bedside table
I'll one up you on CPAP mishaps. My bro in law kept his machine on the floor for unknown reasons. Likely because he reportedly thrashes around a lot when asleep. Machine was probably on floor so that he would not pull the machine onto the floor. Anyhow, one night he thrashed enough that he fell out ...

Re: Face mask coming apart; what glue to use?
It's next to impossible to get silicone rubber to stick to anything. However, there are SCUBA masks that have the lenses bonded to the silicone frame with glue of some sort. Never say any of that glue offered up as a repair item. Likely a complicated process. Best approach would likely be to break o...

Re: He's got: Wild AHI Swings
Papers, Thanks all for your input. Passed it on. Hopefully my friend will join us here eventually. My bad on the brand, but the model was correct. Anyhow, his machine is set at 8 and he has no leaks indicated. He intends to call his doc this afternoon and download SleepyHead. Also, he just moved fro...

Re: Tubing having droplets even after full day drying.
To quote someone, "no biggie". When I first got my machine I used to religiously wash tubing and tank daily, generally hanging the hose over the shower head.. There was always some residual drops in the tube. Now, after using a couple of different machines for a handful+ of years, I hardly ever wash...

He's got: Wild AHI Swings
Papers, I likely don't have all the needed info, but I've got a friend who's new to this game who's having issues. He's using a Resmed Dreamstation "with all the bells and whistles" and says he's having AHI readings ranging between 8 and 40+. Per the wisdom of this forum, I suggested to him that his...

Re: Mouthguards
After going through the process it seemed to me that on the basis of how much chair time the dentist put in making impressions, his cost in getting the thing produced by a dentureist, and fine tuning the fit of the thing afterwards, he was probably doing well to break even on the deal. So, yes, exp...

Re: Mouthguards
Anyone use mouthguards. My doc suggested to try out a cheap sports type, rather than forking out the $500+ custom jobbies at a dentist. For me it would be to prevent biting my tongue. So far the mask seems to reduce this, but I will need to have more experience to be sure. After my dentist urging m...

Re: Going camping...
.................... I also understand, of course, no humidifier. Any thoughts? If lack of humidification is something you don't tolerate well, you can get a "pass-over" version for those camping nights. This has nothing to do with Judaism but the one I inherited is rather a flat plastic box that i...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
Eventually, after getting kicked out of the matrimonial bed for snoring better than a year ago, I got a sleep test. Then I got a prescription for a c-pap. Then I got used to the thing for a week. Now back in bed with the wife! She says she has heard not a peep from me. Now I have to get used to slee...

Re: Newbie here, with a whistling hose!!
I vote for Lansinoh. No sheep are harmed, and any excess can be applied to elbows or heels--ta-daa! Well, you gals got me there. Never heard of the stuff. But on looking it up, it seems it aught to do about the same job as silicone grease, though both are edible, and my recollection of lanolin is t...

Re: Newbie here, with a whistling hose!!
Dennis, how about some Bee's wax? But seriously, beeswax would likely be better than olive oil as far as bug growth and odor, but it's not going to fill in or stay in the gaps of a hose swivel as well as a grease would, It might also tend to flake and perhaps work into the tube to be inhaled. Silic...

Re: Newbie here, with a whistling hose!!
Just dab a bit of olive or veg oil on the swivel, swivel it around a few times and the noise will stop....wipe the excess oil off and your good to go. A slight air leak in a swivel could indeed cause the whistle. Partially sealing the joint with something may well be the easy and best long term sol...

Re: Newbie here, with a whistling hose!!
Why are you wrapping the hose around the headboard. I just let the hose drop on floor between the machine which placed on a night table on the right of me and the bed? By wrapping the hose around the headboard you create an acoustic speaker effect whereby the noise of the air flowing inside the hos...

[quote="Pugsy"]ResScan is the software that DMEs and doctors use. You can view a tutorial on it to get an idea what all the data is. http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/resscan_tutorial/ The DME person will likely freak if you let it be known that you have access to the same software that he uses. You don...
