Re: Any use for old machine?

Before giving it to my DME, I would check my sleep doc's office. The DME might just consider it one less sale--or sell it! Forget about Goodwill--they destroy them. Not all Goodwills destroy the machines. Some sell them online. https://shopgoodwill.com/categories/listing?st=cpap&sg=&c=&s=&lp=0&hp=9...

Re: Forgot my machine

Your throat may be due to GERD (acid reflux) because I'm not sure how untreated apnea would result in that. You've been a member for 16 years, made 19 thousand posts, and don't understand how untreated obstructive apnea can cause reflux??? I had to re-read it as I got that impression the firs...

Re: Coughs and colds

Most of the times that I have a cough, using the cpap will stop the cough overnight. I just has a few singles and then fall asleep. No big deal. If I have a bad cough where I get coughing spasms, then I feel like there isn't enough air, and I want to rip the mask off. I realized it was like staring ...

Re: CPAP Friendly Hotels

Whenever possible, travel by car. I have flown, but it seems those in charge are dedicated to inconveniencing as many people as possible. Totally agree with this! Of course, I do not travel light, especially now that I have cpap therapy AND compression therapy for lymphedema. For two nigh...

Re: CPAP Friendly Hotels

I have used tap water when needed. Some water does smell funky and one never knows what the water will be like. I grew up with well water that was fine to me but my cousins didn't like it. I have had really bad water. One place I was only at for 2 months because the water was so bad. I left my wash...

Re: CPAP causing vertigo symptoms??

I had a strange experience with vertigo and dizziness (both the room spinning kind and the feeling off balance kind). My ENT couldn't find anything wrong with my earsl. He even sent me for vestibular testing and later a brain MRI. Nothing found. Months later, as it improved, got worse, improved agai...

Re: Mask leaking when sleeping on my back

When I sleep on my back (I seem to do that a lot lately because of hip pain) my head tends to tilt forward (I also need my head elevated--getting old SUCKS!). That changes the shape of the face (damn gravity!) and the airway is even more narrowed. I have one of those neck pillows--very soft C-shape...

Re: Mask leaking when sleeping on my back

Mask leaking when sleeping on my back I've used an Amara View many nights. When my chin drops down a little, the lower straps become looser. If my head is then tilted to a more upright, normal position, the lower straps retighten to the desired level. Good luck finding a solution to the sofa/bed tr...

Re: Mask leaking when sleeping on my back

I have always believed that people should be able to sleep in any position they want to sleep in and just because sleeping on one's back might cause more apneas...doesn't mean it always will and even if it does we just set the machine settings so it deals with the airway collapses and prevents the ...

Mask leaking when sleeping on my back

I've been away from the forum for awhile, just too much going on. I am having a new issue that I could really use some help with. I need to use my cpap while sleeping on my back 2-3 hours per night if possible, but I keep having leaks when I sleep on my back. I really need this to work. I am current...

Re: Help Coudnt sleep during study

I did a split night study. I woke up once to use the bathroom. I never reached REM during the diagnosis phase. But I was bad enough fast enough that I was put on cpap 2 1/2 hours into the night. So, depending on how bad you are, they could have enough to diagnose you, and possibly enough to diagnose...

Re: Doctor percribed a med but im AFRAID to take it.

From my experience, if any sedative is added, pressures have to be readjusted, according to my clinic. Reason being, sedatives cause individuals to sleep more relaxed, much deeper, causing increased AHI. So sleep study is done with sedative medication(s). Consult with your sleep clinic with each ne...

I use the same mask. I found that for me it’s slightly noisy when I breath (think Darth Vader 😜) We put a fan on and it helps to drown out the sound.
It's strange. I actually like sleeping with a tv on, but I hate fans, clocks, noise machines, anything with a pattern.

Re: Dreamwear full face mask - sounds and leaks

Nothing in the equipment list works...no choices and no comments. I suppose we could all add our equipment to our signature line but I am beyond annoyed at this point with the forum software. The equipment link has been broken for several months now...and then we have had other issues and I am stil...
