Re: Newbie here: 2 nights on a CPAP
Look at the Sleep Weaver mask on Cpap.com - it's fabric - and it might just be the right one for you everything else being equal. The nasal version has better reviews/results I think than the newer full face one. I used either the Sleep Weaver or another mask similar to it (the nasal one, not a ful...

Re: Blue-blocking glasses (and other Seth Roberts experiments)
Thanks for bringing the topic back up for discussion. I've never thought about wearing blue-blocking sunglasses at night, Corey Hart songs notwithstanding. I set up one of my monitors to display a dark red screen a while back to see if it would make me more tired at night. I can't say I noticed any ...

Any comments?

Re: Lincare Scum Bags
Seth - 1) I would get crystal clear on your insurance policy regarding purchase of a CPAP device. If they will reimburse towards outright purchase then go for it. 2) Get a copy of your CPAP prescription from your doctor. Then you can buy from whomever YOU choose. Lincare varies by local agency in t...

Re: Today is my one year anniversary!
Count me in, too. My one-year anniversary was last month. The last time I updated my SleepyHead stats, it reported 375 days of data out of a period of 380 calendar days. Rounded up, that's 99%. I'd like to say it's made a great difference for me, but I don't really feel it has. Sometimes I feel more...

Re: Lincare Scum Bags
I asked if I could buy the CPAP device outright, but my local Lincare office told me I had to rent the machine in order for my insurance to pay, and that after 12 months I would own the machine. Around 8 months into the deal, I asked how many more months were left before I owned the machine and was ...

Re: A rant
I have no idea about him not suggesting tubes (I have 3 lots of them over the years). When my drum burst, I could feel the air rushing through the hole, so maybe tubes would just do the same? They are really only designed to drain fluid. He said that can't stop the air going through the eustachian ...

Re: Need mask recommendations
I used to have a Quattro FX. I like it better than my Ultra Mirage because it is less bulky, but the clips that hold the top of the mask would push into my eyes because I sleep on my side. If I could fix that I'd switch back (over the Mirage). I'm using a SleepWeaver Elan right now, but that won't w...

Re: Emergency steps one should take (?)
So the question of the OP (quietmorning) was whether somebody should run and fetch her CPAP if she collapsed. The best advice on being prepared was given by PreemieNrsTiffy, who said the family should learn CPR. Assuming the person who collapsed is breathing, they should be placed in the recovery pos...

Re: OXIMETRY - Interfacing the CMS50 with your CPAP Therapy
For the last few nights I tried different things - so far I tried the oximeter on my pinky finger - after making sure the pulse is the same as the finger I originally tried - the only problem I had was the oximeter kept scooting up toward the end of my finger, which woke me up - which wasn't good. ...

Re: Sleepweaver Elan
I think I had a pretty good fit with the mask last night, which was night #3. I've looked at the SleepyHead data now for the past three nights and I don't see anything that makes me think this mask is performing any differently than my ResMed Ultra Mirage FFM. I can find nights that look more or les...

Re: Sleepweaver Elan
First night report on the SleepWeaver elan. I got a good seal while I was testing it out before dinner, but when I used it in bed I had pretty bad leaks. I tried switching to the large size but that didn't work. I thought I might have to give up on it. I went back to the regular size, removed the ma...

Re: Sleepweaver Elan
It must be try out SleepWeaver elan week. After finally getting a permission slip on Friday from my doctor so I didn't hurt myself by ordering a CPAP mask (what would I do without the FDA?), my order with cpap.com went through and my new SleepWeaver elan arrived today (Monday). I tried it out a litt...
