Re: CPAP Specific Nightstands
Nice idea. I'll keep it in mind for some of my patients (or their spouse) that complain of the white noise the machine makes. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Apria
Every local Apria is different but from my experience of being in the field, a lot of patients I know have had less than stellar service from them. Also, respiratory therapist that have worked for them in the past have mentioned less than stellar working conditions i.e. nothing shady or illegal just...

Re: Help! Newbie trapped in a wind storm!
Also you may want to contact your provider and ask for a new mask-let them know the problems you are having. The mask come with a 30 day trial period so they should be able to refit and change it for you. You may also want to try mask liners: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/remzzzs-full-face-cpap-m...

Re: Detaching Philips System One humidifier
Just a note on Janknitz post...the new 60 series machines do not come with the cover anymore. The older units did and some of the AVAPs and ASV do but the regular cpap and bipap units dont have the cover anymore. Dont want you to spend a lot of time or worry looking for something you may not have. I...

Re: Air Leaks
I agree with 'old dude' post. If you were my patient I would suggest and do the following; 1. refit the mask - size your face using the sizing gauges for that mask developed by the manufacturer. The quattro does come in an x-small size or you may need a medium?? 2. if mask is the correct size - Try ...

Re: Masks: ResMed Quatro Air or Phillips/Respironics Amara?
In my experience the Amara mask -gel and silicone - leak too much. Not on all the patients but enough of them that we do not use as much. The Amara gel was an improvement but it still tends to leak around the chin area. As with all mask it will fit some people great and others not so much but some m...

Re: Mask Question
Sometimes when going from a full face mask to a smaller nasal mask it will feel like the pressure is higher or exhaling is harder. This may be due to the larger full face mask having more "space" for the air to come in and fill up before you breathe it in vs a smaller nasal mask. I tend to get this ...

Re: Distilled Water and Travel
A lot of our cpap patients strictly use bottled water i.e Ozarka etc.. even though during set up we tell them to use distilled water to prevent mineral buildup. If we happen to see them later (few months or even years) and they are using bottled water I have specifically asked them about any mineral...

Re: I like the Wisp but... Any FFMs with that type cushion?
I agree with Loreena...the F&P Simplus FFM mask seems to be the mask that would most closely resemble the wisp type cushion. We have had good success with it using on our patients...of course, like any mask it varies from patient to patient but for the most part most patients like it and it seems to...

Re: Doc caved in S9 autoset Rx order DME Battle next!!
Stu is correct. Most DMEs deal with one manufacturer due to volume discount. The company I work for deals primarily with Respironics as well. Unfortunately, with lowering reimbursement rates some products are too expensive for the company to provide. It seems like Resmed prices their machines and ma...

Re: If Anyone Needs Convincing Evidence!
Great stories! This helps remind me to emphasize the importance of not giving up to our pts. I actually have a friend that stopped using it after trying several mask etc.. He acts like he just cant do it....I'm going to show him these and maybe "scare" him into trying again.
Thanks for posting!

Re: It is Respironics WISP
Thanks for the update. It helps remind or reinforce to us out in the field which mask are working out in the "real world." I have currently been leaning towards the Eson mask but have put out the Wisp in the past. I may start fitting more pts with it again.

Re: No Stage 3 Sleep
I worked at a sleep lab for about a year and a half and it was actually very common not to see stage 3 on a lot of pts. A lot of stage 2 and some REM but stage 3 was missing a lot.

Re: 1st night not good, help me have a 2nd
Just as an FYI - I dont like that mask too much. Opinions vary of course and some people love it but for full face mask you may get better results with a Resmed QUattro full face mask. Have your DME provider fit you with it and see if you like it. It may not leak as much. Also, as the other post men...
