Re: My new Respironics Dreamstation
We were told by our Respironics Reps that we will be getting the dreamstation soon but have yet to see any. This is the first pic I see of one. I agree with some of the other users, I prefer the new Resmed look vs this one. First impression (for me and a sleep doc) was that it looked 'cheap' like an...

Re: Finally found my perfect tape alternative for mouth leaks...
Thank you for the detailed explanation and the pictures. Really helps to visualize it. Not sure if I can recommend to a patient but I can point them to your post.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Re: P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
Thanks for the update. I will have to check it out on our end,I assumed it was the same headgear. We have had some patients complain that the headgear on the "P10 for him" is too large and they have to tie a knot on the headgear or sew a small stitch on it to make it smaller. May try the 'for her' m...

Re: newbie with Amara View mask
Our Respironics rep just emailed us that we are getting the Amara View mask. I'll see how it goes and what the feedback is. Excited to hear the good reviews so far. Respironics has not had the best new mask lately i.e. the Amara etc..

Re: Life of a CPAP machine
"Life of a CPAP' too funny! LOL! For the question regarding the cpap failing catastrophically...my experience has been about the same as the other RT. Most will simply stop working or start beeping at you or turn on and then turn off (all for no apparent reason-they worked perfectly fine the night b...

Re: Is there a mouth-only mask?
You could look into the Resmed Liberty mask or the Fisher Paykel Oracle mask. I have only used the oracle mask once or twice on patients and I seem to remember only one of them having success with it. We dont use it much. We have used the Liberty mask more often (still sparingly) with some success. ...

Re: Being switched to TRILOGY
The trilogy is a ventilator that can be used as a Bipap. It has several of the Respironic BiPAP modes included (S/T, AVAPS etc) I have seen it ordered when the BiPAP pressures are no longer effective in resolving the sleep apnea or if the patient's CO2 levels are too high at night and cant be contro...

Re: Data card from Walmart okay?
I see patients with store bought SD cards and they all have worked fine. These are on the Philips System One units-have not seen one for Resmed.

Re: Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and Sleep Apnea
I dont have any experience nor have I had a patient with that type of experience. Most new cpap machines will compensate for altitude changes but I am not sure until what altitude. You may want to check with the manufacturer. Another therapy you may want to look into or talk with your MD about is Pr...

Re: Do Many of You Have the Ramp Feature Turned Off?
Most new patients we set up use the ramp for the first few days/weeks then if we see them again or talk to them a lot of them will say they are used to the pressure and dont need the ramp anymore. Some pts that are on pretty high pressures >16 cwp will continue to use the ramp feature for a long tim...

Re: Chin Straps?
I like the Rudy Red as well- the adjustable one. If a patient does not want 'that much stuff' on their head I will let them try the Respironics Premium chinstrap and that seems to work ok. It really depends on the pt, hair style-some people with real fine hair the chinstraps move while coarse hair s...

Re: EPR ?
I work in a sleep clinic 1 day out of my work week and on most pts that have EPR it does not seem to affect them i.e AHI within normal range, pt is comfortable etc.. But on some other pts if their AHI is slightly higher >5 the doctor will usually ask that we eliminate the EPR along with other change...

Re: CPAP, Oxygen and BiPap...Help
A doctor will order a Bipap if someone's cpap pressure gers too high that they are having a hard time tolerating it. By switching to Bipap the doc can usually lower the epap (exhale pressure) and still eliminate the apneas. The other reason for a Bipap is if someone can't get used to cpap even if th...
