Re: STICKY...can't find distilled water? What can I do?
I've used tap water where there was no other option. I prefer to use distilled. When my local stores were out of distilled, I made my own using an Instant Pot - just had to get some vinyl tubing. It wasn't as efficient as the instructions made it out to be, but I got enough for five days use, which ...

[quote="avi123"I don't think that Psoriasis comes from skin irritation. I had it when I was in my teens. It has gone for ever. But, I still use Denorex Shampoo, the one with the max allowed TAR. Re: A humidifier lesson I learned while in a hotel
When we travel, I always pick up a bottle of distilled water. If I don't want to try carrying it back home, I just dump it out before we leave the hotel. I can normally find it for $1 or less, so it's no big expense and I don't have to worry about crud build up in my humidifier. I have a flip-top s...

My cat has done that a few times for me. I haven't figured out how he managed it without turning the machine off altogether.

Re: Brand new and I should be a case study with these issues
Did I miss where you mentioned what pressure you are using? It's at 15 and ramp is on. For the suffocating feeling, have you tried not using the ramp? My pressure is at 14.5, and I can't get enough air with the ramp on. Had to have it disabled in the programming, because my cat kept stepping on the...

Re: Newbie - trouble falling asleep
As part of what Pugsy suggested, you can wear the CPAP for a while (an hour or so) before you want to go to sleep. While you're watching tv, reading, in general relaxing. You'll be getting used to the feel of the appliance on your face and the air moving, without the expectation of falling asleep. I...

(I can't put equipment info in my profile because my machine nor mask are listed in the available drop downs. ) Even if your equipment isn't in the drop-down, you can use the Additional Comments box to list what you're using. Having it there will help the local experts with your questions, without ...

Re: NEWLY diagnosed OSA decisions: CPAP vs Oral device
Ease of use, getting it on and off when a call comes in is another big concern. As for getting the mask on and off - I use the Swift FX nasal pillows. If you can adjust to them, being able to sleep with your mouth closed, they take virtually no time to remove. Just a few seconds to get them seated ...

Re: OSA and can't use cpap, now no libido or desire for life
What is his pressure set to? If he's starting at too low a pressure, I can see that feeling like he can't breathe. Looking at the report, his machine is currently set to 4.0 as the minimum pressure and 12,0 as max, I'm not the expert that many others are, but that 4.0 seems very low. When I started...

Re: Distilled Water?
Distilled water here. For traveling, I've got a 20 oz sport bottle that lives in the CPAP case, just for that. It's enough for a weekend, and I haven't been away for more than that in a long time. I won't go into Wal-Mart, but the regional grocery stores around here stock distilled water in gallons,...

Re: Tweaking pressure - side effects
Thanks, Pugsy, those are good ideas. I wouldn't mind waking up on my back if it didn't also hurt! LSAT, this is an experiment for now, and for the short time I've been at these pressures there's a small improvement over the 12cm I was at before. I'm going to let it alone for now and see how the numb...

Tweaking pressure - side effects
I started on CPAP on March 2, with a fixed pressure of 12cm. Over those first few weeks I tweaked the ramp (now off), humidity, position, the easy stuff, and watched the data. The last two weeks at those settings, my AHI was 4.97, split pretty evenly between OA, CA and H. I decided to see if I could...

Re: Irony
I really hate it when I do that! The good news, though, is that all is not lost. When you put the card back in the machine, it'll download the event flags, AHI, pressure, leak and snore data. You'll be missing the flow rate, tidal volume, and rest of the minute-by-minute stuff, most of which I don't...
