Re: Lack of Communication, Doctor & DME

Just got off the phone with my DME and my blood is boiling They said there will be an upgrade charge to go with the Auto Machine of $ 350.00, I said you have to be kidding me - this machine costs about $ 70.00 more than my current machine. My insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield pays quite well...

Re: Lack of Communication, Doctor & DME

Question...have you checked with your insurance company to find out if the "up charge" is even allowed per the contract that they have with DME? I spoke with my insurance company at length a couple weeks ago to get their allowable for the billing codes that the DME had on my paperwork, they can onl...

Re: CPAP pillows to sleep on

I do not have a CPAP Designed Pillow, but recently changed to a Tempur Pedic Cloud Pillow, works great for support and to keep my mask off the pillow as my head does not sink into it like a normal pillow.

Re: Effects of quitting smoking on CPAP therapy

You might want to try the new electronic cigarettes, I hear many many people have great success using them. My Doctor said nicotine by itself is no more harmful than caffeine, the electronic cigarettes vaporizes a solution of propylene glycol & nicotine. I bought one (but was not ready to quit) and ...

Re: Lack of Communication, Doctor & DME

I know what I would do but then I am known to be a bitch... Yes me too. I would be in there breathing fire! They did NOT fill the prescription! They really have no option but to replace it with what the doctor ordered. That's what I told them, this is not an Auto Machine - this is Auto for 30 days ...

Re: Lack of Communication, Doctor & DME

I spoke with the Respiratory Therapist, she is checking with the owner of the DME to see what they can do - she briefly spoke with the owner on the phone and he thought there would be like a $ 350.00 up-charge but will check and call me back tomorrow. Yes, my insurance is covering 70% as a purchase ...

Re: Lack of Communication, Doctor & DME

If you just started therapy when you joined the forum rest assured it does get better with the help and support you get here. If you got the AUTO IQ, in theory is sounds like a great idea. You can give us a progress and product report as time goes by. I know about being pissed. I recently had some ...

Re: Lack of Communication, Doctor & DME

Is your machine the Auto IQ? What you are describing is the Auto IQ which only does the auto (APAP) mode for a short time then switches over to straight cpap mode. Check the bottom of your machine for a model number. Auto IQ is DS 450 because it is a PR S1 Pro with limited 30 days of APAP ability. ...

Lack of Communication, Doctor & DME

I had a bad night on the machine, my AHI was higher, looked at my information for the night and my pressure was 13.5 all night. I was under the impression my APAP Machine was going to be set between 10 to 16 and the Doctor would prescribe pressure changes as needed. I looked at the settings and I di...

Re: How did you know something was wrong?

I had not been to a Doctor for several years, was complaining to my Wife for years my muscles were tight in the neck and shoulders, fatigued, and I thought it was all stress related from work. My Doctor did a full check up with lab work and my labs came back that my blood was critically thick, hemog...

Re: SPO2, Pressure, & Filter Question

I have noticed is what seems to be my pressure being really low on my PRS1 once in awhile, it feels like barely any air is coming in my mask, I look over to see if the machine is still on. The two nights this has occurred I noticed the filters have come out of the back of the machine. Would this ca...

SPO2, Pressure, & Filter Question

I finally received my CMS-50D yesterday and slept with it last night to check my Oxygen levels, as I have posted awhile back I have Secondary Polycythemia which my Doctors feel was caused by many years of hypoxia and the ultimate cause being from sleep apnea. What led them to start checking this was...
