Backpacking with the new ResMed 11

I recently received a ResMed AirSense 11. Is there a battery for it? If I'm going to be backpacking for up to two days at a time, am I better off using the Airsense 11 or my old Airsense 10. for which I already have at least one working battery? I dod realize I need to update my information at the b...

Re: airsense 10 vs 11

@ Dog Slobber - I don't mean to hijack the thread but just have to ask - - - - Why would the medical system not want Canadians in Ontario to get APAP machines? I don't doubt what you say, just don't understand the why part. And I usually think of my home, the US, as being the place with the crazy i...

Recommendations for new CPAP

Does anyone have any recommendations for a new CPAP machine? With my health insurance, I'm eligible for a new machine. Currently, I use a Resmed Autoset 10.

Any suggestions on how to temporarily get a CPAP machine?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to temporarily get a CPAP machine. I have a RESMED S10 APAP that makes loud noises. I called the DME. They said that I could send it in to get fixed, but that it would take about three weeks. They said that normally they'd first send a loaner, however, due to ...

Re: New Resmed Airsense 10 making wheezing noise on inhaling

Resmed Airsense 10- I was having the same wheezing noise described. I went into the config settings and found that the tube was set on slim line! I changed it to standard and the noise has stopped for now. Thanks for the Tip! I believe I had the same issue. I already had scheduled the appointment w...

Re: Excessive Noise

It’s the ResMed Airsense 10 auto-set. It’s about 2 years old. They replaced the last one under warranty for a different problem after about two years. I’ll like get an Airsense 11 Autoset in about a year. How do I check the run hours?

Excessive Noise

My wife says that my machine is making much more noise recently. She says she hears me breathing. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this or how I can fix this?

Science Question

Here is my question: If I’m at high altitude but using my CPAP machine at the time, is the air I breathe through the CPAP basically the same as if I was at ground level? My understanding is that at high altitudes, the proportions of the gases in the air stay roughly the same as at sea level. However...

Re: Hiking with CPAP

Great apes don't suffer from sleep apnea. The ability of humans to speak is the root cause of sleep apnea. Speech requires a supra vocal cord tract in which the ratio of the horizontal distance between the incisor tooth and the pharynx is 1:1 with the vertical distance between the pharynx and the l...

Re: High pressure mask

Perhaps a FFM with an adjustable forehead brace (e.g., ResMed Mirage Quattro) would held prevent leakage near the upper half of your nose. I once tried a FFM that didn't have a forehead brace while I was at the DME; the respiratory tech couldn't keep it from leaking.

Toss the fitbit. It is not a medical device--"for entertainment only" . . .
I agree as to not using the Fitbit. My sleep data on Fitbit is crazy.

Experimenting with a nasal masks. Will the leaks decrease?

I used a nasal mask last night. Specifically, I tried a ResMed AirFit™ N20 Nasal CPAP Mask. Should I be concerned about my results and the excessive leaks? I don't normally wear a nasal mask. I was unaware of breathing through my mouth, although my results basically say that I did. Are the leaks lik...

Kong, if you are King Kong, you shouldn't have a problem carrying a XPAP and a battery to power it, both weigh way less that carrying a girl up the side of the Empire State building. Jim
I"m a different kong. Great apes don't suffer from sleep apnea.

Re: Off CPAP for life! LCHF now

I'm a fan of the low car, high fat (LCHF) diet, although it only helped me lose a few pounds. But I know many people are much more successful with it than I am. Any diet that helps a person lose weight may help the person with obstructive sleep apnea. However, there are people who are quite skinny w...

Living (presumably) in the same house pretty much ensures that she'll catch it if you get it.
That's probably true. I do have one friend who managed to catch it and didn't give it to his wife and children.
