How to Post
I'm trying to figure out if there is a quick guide on how to post things on this forum. (I imagine there has to be, although I haven't found it yet.) For instance, how do I change my signature so that it include a link to the CPAP supplies noted? How do I post a picture so that it will appear at a d...

What do you mean by a "sticky"? I'm trying to find it.

Re: How Much Difference Is There Between Machines?
If your AHI is sometimes above 5, you're not being fully treated. If you give us more info on your pressure settings, actual frequency of times above 5 and where you otherwise tend to average out below 5 (most of us hover around 1-2 or so for the majority of time) we can try to optimize things for ...

Re: Best Cpap software?
I've repeatedly heard people say SleepyHead. I've never used it because until I started a new machine last night, my machine was incompatible with Sleepyhead.

I thought I was the only person who doesn't clean the hoses.Julie wrote:. . . don't fuss about your hose unless you SEE something in it. Most don't bother cleaning it ever, though I suppose if you wanted to do it once under the circumstances, go ahead.

Re: 2010 study results, but no prescription... how to proceed
My insurance company requires that I regularly see a physician concerning CPAP. If I haven't done so recently, then they won't pay for CPAP supplies. I don't know if yours is similar.

Re: How Much Difference Is There Between Machines?
Thanks for the advice. They need to start doing a better job of naming the machines. I thought I had the correct one. I copied the correct name from the cpaptalk.com, entered it into an app on my phone, and will bring the phone with me when I meet with the DME. Since I'm scheduled to get a new machi...

Re: Some Fitbit devices to start tracking sleep stages
I used a Fitbit Blaze with a heart rate monitor. However, it's rare for the heart rate shown on the Blaze to come remotely close to the heart rate shown by using a chest strap monitor. I'd be quite skeptical of getting a Fitbit device (or any user operated device) to check sleep stages. It's probabl...

How Much Difference Is There Between Machines?
How much of a difference is there between a basic APAP and a good APAP? Currently, I use a Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle 254 Auto CPAP Machine. When I received the machine just over 5 years ago, I believe it was already somewhat out of date. On Thursday, I will meet with my DME to get a new machine. I'...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP
I very much doubt that there will be any sort of problem with this. If you're still worried about it, call your health care insurance company directly and ask them. By the way, I'm not sure how hospitals handle patients with CPAP, but it makes the most sense to me to use the same machine that the pe...

Kong If we ass u me that you need a simple APAP machine and not a BiLevel or ASV, then the jury will be split. The best Resmed machine would be the Airsense 10 Autoset for Her. Yes I know you are a him. The best Phillips Resperonics would be the Dreamstation Auto. Sorry I am not up to date on the m...

Re: Best CPAP Machine
Have you been using software to monitor your therapy? Do you know if you have been having centrals? Any idea why the wide variations in your AHI? Answers to these questions may help someone here to provide better guidance. My machine, as far as I know, does not detect central sleep apneas. During a...

Best CPAP Machine
What's the best auto-CPAP machine? I believe I'm eligible for a new machine since I've had my machine for over 5 years. I left a message for my doctor to order a new machine. When using CPAP, my AHI ranges from about 3-10. Increasing the pressure doesn't lower the AHI.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Velcro won't hold
After a while, I find I have to use safety pins to hold my straps together, even if I pick the lint out of the hooks. I've been trying to figure out something better than a safety pin, but no luck yet. I'm thinking of something like a paper clip that holds the hooks to the fuzz, but I haven't found...
