Re: couple question from a newbie

Hi Is a FF mask required. I used to breath through my mouth but trained myself not to while sleeping. Nasal pillow/cushion masks are much more comfortable and do not leak as badly as a FF mask. At least that has been my experience. My pre-CPAP AHI was 63 and my pressure, in auto mode, is set to 15-1...

Re: Bruxism and sleep apneia

I got my mouth guard long before I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. I've been on CPAP for 5.5 years and still wear my mouth guard nightly. I wasn't even aware they could be related. In my case going on CPAP therapy has not helped the teeth grinding at all.

Re: Mask leaking way too much

Why can't you do SH shots? Are you using Imgur.com and following instructions you got when you downloaded the program? Hi Julie, I haven't ever been to Imgur.com or downloaded the program. I will check it out. I did do a screen shot and saved the file but couldn't attach it. I looked at Imgur. To t...

Re: Mask leaking way too much

SleepyHead defaults to the ResMed leak threshold number of 24 L/min excess leak to calculate that "time over red line statistic" giving you that warning but you are using a Respironics machine and their red line isn't the same as ResMed's red line. So you may not be having any excess leaks at all a...

Mask leaking way too much

Hi Everyone, I'm getting good numbers. I tape, so I know I'm not mouth breathing. I keep getting this warning in sleepyhead. I don't know if I should worry about it. When I go to bed I have a nice snug fit on the mask and when I wake up it is usually a snug fit, not leaking or causing any problems. ...

Re: Swift FX nasal pillows are softer causing higher AHI

I would contact your DME or whomever you buy your pillows from and report that there is something wrong with the pillows and that you'd like a replacement.
The post was more about finding out if other's had experienced the same situation recently. I already moved on to a different mask.

Re: I'm Afraid You'll Think I'm Disgusting

And I thought I was a horrible person...lol Thank you so much for this thread. I do clean my nasal cushion with baby wipes daily for better adhesion. I never clean my humidifier tank but make sure that at least twice a week I take it out and let it dry out completely. Hose I've been doing about once...

Re: Mouth Taping

I recently started trying mouth taping again because of high leak warnings on Sleepyhead. Started with masking tape but it felt invasive and I just couldn't keep it on. Then I remembered I had some 1 inch NexCare Sensitive Skin Tape. So I tried it. PERFECT! It's very light but adheres easily. I foun...

Re: Skipping CPAP while camping

2 years ago I went to Puerto Rico for a 2 week vacation with family. My brother and I both have sleep apnea, me severe, him moderate. We both traveled with our CPAPs. I have not slept a single night without my machine and don't plan to. My brother is an avid camper and fisherman. He has a camper, an...

Swift FX nasal pillows are softer causing higher AHI

Hi everyone, I used the Swift FX nasal pillows for 5 years with no problems. My average AHI was 0.8, until the last batch of nasal pillows. They felt softer than the older ones. Which is what my overused ones felt like. I always knew when I had to change the nasal pillows because 1. they would get s...

Re: newbie with an old machine?

I have a similar machine the PR System One 550. I also have Medicare and Tricare. You do need to get a sleep study for Medicare and Tricare to pay if your last sleep study was over 10 years ago. I'm getting a new machine with my doctor's recommendation/prescription, without a sleep study but my last...

Re: New Sleep Study - Keep Using CPAP?

My understanding is that if you have an AHI of 5 or higher, a CPAP is recommended.
