Re: What symptoms when filter needs changed?

Giving a basic brand helps. Do you have pets, allergies? Do you live in an arctic wasteland or next to a pollen research lab? Some people go years without replacing filters but I replace them every 2 weeks. The filters are mostly there to protect the machine but if they get full of dust, mold can gr...

Re: OT - Do these heaters save money?

The new split systems make 6 watts of heat for every watt of electricity giving them a COP of 6. I'd have to see the tech data sheets to believe it's that high. More likely COP at best is 3 to 4, and then it depends on the temperature difference between the source and load. The smaller systems are ...

Re: OT - Do these heaters save money?

No, they don't save money. The best heaters are either piped in natural gas or what the rest of the wold calls "split air conditioners" I have a Sharp unit in my bedroom and it takes about 45 Watts on average with bursts to 85W when it needs to cool or heat. http://www.sharp-world.com/products/minis...

Re: Cleaning Resmed S9

I have had a Resmed S9 with the Swift FX headgear. I have used distilled water and clean it with hot tap water and J&J Baby Shampoo. I want to give it a deeper clean. Not just the lines and the humidifier, but I would love to clean the accumulated dust out of the air pump part and disinfect not jus...

Re: Completely Frustrated

The bigger the mask, the less likely it will fit most people properly. A proper fitting mask will seal with just a small pressure. Take pen and hold it in a finger and thumb below you chin and press the other end on your nose/mask. That is the type of pressure you need for a good fit for a proper fi...

Re: Clenching jaw while using CPAP

I was having problems with a demo mask but I used a different brands headgear with it and the problem went away. I now use a resmed mask with F&P headgear.

Re: Has anyone tried a *wifi SD card* with their ResMed?

There is some 3rd party software that can be loaded on some of the cards that might work for this but that requires something on the receiving end to mirror the sd card and cope with the fact that it is in a state of flux at all times. I don't think any current solutions will work but I could see sl...

Re: Worried about inhaling filter fibers?

If your have pets and don't have a working filter, tape a bit of tissue paper over the hole to help keep the pet hair out of the motor.

It would be nice if Resmed would come up with a decent filter design. The one on their s9 isn't very good and the filters tend to leak.

WHY can one not connect CPAP to Sine wave apc smart ups? The CPAP machine should be happy with it. As for laser printers, I'd need a refere...

Re: Nose congestion

Look at what the pump is sucking up? Is it near the floor or where a pet sleeps? The next step is change the water in your tank daily and dump out the old water in the morning to give the tank time to try out. Try distilled water or a different brand. Rinse the hose daily in the morning and at night...

Re: ups sine wave

I don't think the S9 power supply would care about the input from the worst inverter/UPS/generator you can find. I have inverters that are close to 98% efficient but many are closer to 50% at the loads of a S9 without the humidifier or heater on. Too bad the S9 needs a signal from the power supply t...
