I was away for several months.

Re: wedge pillows and apnea

Never mind about the settings I figured it out. My maximum is/was 20. I upped my minimum to 9.5; I'll see how that goes. I've been coming here for years but after being away for a month logging in over the last two days has proved to be a nightmare; I'm outta here. Thanks for all your help, it's jus...

Re: wedge pillows and apnea

I use the cheapest $30.00 model sold at B, B and Beyond. The counter person said that it's better liked than the $100.00 alternative. I believe her. My minimum setting may be 9; I set it months ago and can't remember. I just assumed that I didn't have a maximum; certainly not lower than 15; why? I p...

Re: wedge pillows and apnea

Actually my consistent average ahi is around 1.5--the 2 is sort of high. But now I sound like I'm bragging! I want it down around 1 consistently but it probably ain't gonna happen.

wedge pillows and apnea

I always thought that sleeping on your back was discouraged for apnea. However, my dme said that with a cpap machine, it was fine. so I started sleeping on my back. I recently got a wedge pillow to relieve my lower back strain. Man, it works great! My ahi score remained the same until the last few n...

Re: OT-AN OPEN LETTER TO PUGSY

Pugsy helped me in a variety of ways, and not just with her good advice. She pointed me in the right direction when I needed a new machine and was on a limited budget. She also sent me a hose hangar that I use every night, plus some other stuff, for free of course. And she always weighed in with goo...

Re: help with hypopneas

palerider, you're probably right about Respironics being slow to respond. I've noticed this in other contexts. I've slept for two nights with the minimum at 9; seems good, but it's been raining so allergens have been down as well. I forgot to reinsert my data card for the first night, but my machine...

Re: So Clean

Love my So-Clean. People here on this board hate it; none of them own one. This is a long standing discussion; make up your own mind but I suggest that you look for reviews elsewhere from people who actually own one, like me. I'm delighted with mine. If you live in a humid area where your hose stays...

Re: help with hypopneas

O2 levels are interesting. It takes a minute or two for my levels to go down after I remove my mask (I'm breathing shallowly in bed). I wonder when I wake up and check my O2 if the same rationale works for the levels to go up as well. In any case I've bumped my minimum pressure from 8.5 to 9. My ave...

help with hypopneas

so over time my issue--my highest score, typically--is hypopneas. I don't think that they're bad--I score about a 1.4 on average, I suppose. My AHI is around 1.7 over time. the thing is, I'm not sleeping well recently. It may just be allergies--they're terrible this year in my neck of the woods. I b...

Re: Way to go you Idiots - APOLOGY ALSO

Pugsy has been extraordinarily informative, patient and helpful for me over the last several years. She pointed me in the right direction when I needed a new machine and didn't have much money to spend. She sent me stuff that I needed in the mail. Her demeanor on this forum has always been good-natu...

Re: Platypus: REM Champion

If you picture a row of ducks on a log, all sleeping, the ones in the center have both eyes closed while the two on either end have one eye open. However, these two ducks are sleeping too! Most animals--according to some show on NPR that I'm probably mis-remembering--only sleep with one eye shut. th...

Re: The Dark Side and Downsides of Melatonin

I tried melatonin once. Never again. I felt miserable the next day. And I didn't sleep well either. Yes, this is anecdotal; it's just, I really didn't like how I felt. And it wasn't a familiar feeling at all--I'm very sure it was a melatonin hangover. Unpleasant. ymmv. I probably bought a version th...

Re: Scared after using smelly water

" numerous times I have waited too long to clean my machine, to the point of musty odor and pink algae growing on the sides of the water container."

There are those on this forum who would claim that this is impossible.
