Re: How to Check Out A Second Hand Machine?

Thanks, Lisistired - that is great info. I've e-mailed the seller to get more info. Under my insurance I think I could get a "worry-free," open box S9 autoset for $550 out of pocket from a respected supplier (and satisfy my deductible for the year). So it may not be quite the "screaming deal" I firs...

How to Check Out A Second Hand Machine?

Just saw an ad for a S9 Autoset with humidifier with only a few hours use for $400.

How would I check it out to insure it is in good working order?

What are the potential pitfalls of which I should be aware?

Thanks

Re: Preparing my case for a medically necessary Autoset

A minor side point - the reason they insist on a printout and can't open a pdf, accept e-mails or thumb drives is simple. They do not want to risk a computer virus.

Re: Arm Numbness from Head Resting Upon It

One thing I tried which does not work - putting a regular pillow under my PAPillow to elevate my head more. That made for a uncomfortably bent neck and caused my my AHI to jump to 7.1 (avg=4.2). New mattress, new pillows. My mattress is old. A new one is a good idea. I've already elevated the head o...

Arm Numbness from Head Resting Upon It

Often I awake because my arm has "gone asleep" while I am lying on my side and using my arm as a pillow for my head. Does anyone else have this problem? I've done a search on the board for this problem and have found nothing. I started using a Double Edge PAPillow at the same time I began CPAP but t...

Newbie Observations - "I Was Surprised ..."

As a CPAP newbie, I was surprised... By the amazing daytime feeling of how open my airway was now. I could breath in so easily! To discover that my mask puts out a plume of cold air more than a foot long. Watch out wife! By the bliss of being able to sleep in late once again - I thought that aging h...

Re: CPAP to APAP Justification

You don't technically need an official justification to get an APAP vs. a CPAP, as they are billed under the same codes. However, if you've had your machine for over a month, you are probably stuck with it. The DME is unlikely to do an exchange at this point, and the insurance company isn't going t...

CPAP to APAP Justification

New member of the board with about 350 hours on my CPAP. I doing well overall but from what I've been reading here It seems an APAP might be better for me. How can I best make a case to my physician for an APAP? I do not want to pay for another sleep study. My titration study showed and "A + H index...

The Berlin sleep apnea screening questionnaire might be useful. Scroll down to page 3 for the actual questionnaire. Ten easy questions.

Re: fx pillow

I found that when I washed my FX pillows every morning, they only lasted about 30 days--if that. After I got more lax, using baby wipes on the exterior frequently, and washing occasionally, they last 2 or three times that long. No exact cleaning schedule--just when I really feel it needs it. Interes...

Re: fx pillow

I'm on my second set of FX pillows after about 40 days. Started getting more and more leaks and all the old pre-CPAP symptoms were coming back - light headache, brain fog etc. I can't see any physical difference in the flabbiness of the used vs new pillows, but I'm sleeping much better with the new ...

Re: fx pillow

I'm a new CPAP user and had this question as well. It has been posted about before and people report widely different times. The official replacement interval is 30 days: http://www.cpap-supply.com/Articles.asp?ID=191
