Re: Newbie and pretty scared

Over the first 7 nights my AHI was 7.24 but the bulk of those were clear airway events Kevin, I've been on CPAP for 1 1/2 years and I still average around 5 AHI with slightly over half as "clear airway". 7 isn't great, but it isn't the end of the world. Keep trying different things for a week or tw...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Also on Androgel at pretty high levels. Started it about 8 months after I started CPAP. If it is negatively affecting my CPAP, it is a fairly small increase to my events per hour. No "perceived" difference in how my CPAP is going. Interesting about people saying they are "snappy" when their T levels...

Re: newbie: clogged nose ergo apnea?

Has anyone thought of using eucalyptus oil or menthol drops in the humidifier? I am considering using it for mild stuffiness during the night. Rather than putting it in your humidifier, you can put it on a cotton ball near the air inlet for your CPAP machine. I wouldn't put it in the water. I use s...

Re: Thanks to all the contributors - 1 year on the hose!

Java Time, Congratulations on your one year of PAP use! I have 43 more days and I will be experiencing the same thing. Now you can move forward and go from just being called a 'hose head' to a more respectful 'Mr Hose Head' . I hope your sleep continues to improve and that it will move ever closer ...

I'm guessing very few males would take that trade voluntarily. Yikes!

Thanks to all the contributors - 1 year on the hose!

Today is one year on the hose for me. Thanks to all the contributors on this website, as well as CPAP.com for sponsoring! I have many friends on CPAP and I was much better prepared and informed than they were, thanks to the wisdom from all of you who share your experiences in this forum. My sleep is...

Re: CPAP with a cold?

It is that time of year I like the vicks on a cotton ball as well. These things also may help... Mucinex is always a possible fix. Make sure you drink LOTS of water to get the yuck out. I personally like neilmed sinus wash with Alkalol (link to explanation of use at end of my signature line) When it...

Re: World Record AHI?

Hi all. Finally got to see my sleep study results and I had a AHI of 88. From what I can tell, this is a very high number (bad, like in Golf) I am anxiously waiting for my machine and am actually a little nervous about sleeping with out one now. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Welcome! My AHI was ...

Re: CPAP and Foam Earplugs: Any problem?

When I first started using CPAP and earplugs, I noticed a little additional pressure in my ears. Also a little amplification of "internal" breathing sounds as mentioned by others. After a few days I stopped noticing the additional pressure. I've been on the hose for over a year using earplugs with n...

I use this model machine as well and it is a good data-capable machine that works well with SleepyHead.

Re: Pur-Sleep Cpap Aromatherapy

I saw Pugsy's suggestion about the PurSleep product on the post about what to try during the CPAP.com "free shipping" last weekend. (Pugsy, thanks for the hint about using cotton balls. That will be cheaper than buying disks. Also, for the tip about placing the cotton on something to avoid damaging ...

Re: I week in.....

I may be incorrect but I am thinking 9 to 10 hrs a night is a bit excessive, shouldn't normal be closer to 6 to 8? Maybe I am over thinking it and just be quietly thankful I am not having any major adjustment issues. Welcome! It seems like you are off to a great start and I hope you continue to imp...

Re: Newbie with questions!

Do any of my symptoms sound like sleep apnea and if so, do they get better with CPAP? I am 11 months into CPAP. I was also frequently waking up to go to the bathroom, frequently enough that I went in and got tested for diabetes, which I didn't have. The CPAP dramatically reduced my waking during th...

Re: CPAP machine is making me sick and causing me lung problems

Just a quick thought here on the nasal spray and your drainage. My son is not on CPAP, but he does use Flonase (generic) at night for nasal congestion when he lays down. Right after he uses the spray it causes drainage, so he has to wait a while after using it before laying down or the drainage is ...

Re: Aloha Nasal Pillow Mask @ 6months

I think I'm at 4 months now. Original pillows seem to be getting a little stiff, but I'm still really pleased. For whatever reason of my anatomy, I couldn't get comfortable with the Swift FX Nasal Pillow. I also couldn't get what felt like adequate airflow for my nose structure. I used several over ...
