Re: I hate CPAP.
There's a fine, fine line between tough love, and outright bullying. While you who espouse "tough love" congratulate each other, another one, maybe two, maybe more people have been turned off by your antics and are in the process of drawing away from this forum. Is this what you want? Is this what y...

Re: I hate CPAP.
Yes, unfortunately, really. There are some wonderful, amazingly helpful folks on this board, but there are also some who just love to pile onto anyone who expresses a negative opinion about xpap. They claim that they do it as "tough love." but what it really is is bitterness and hate. They invoke th...

Re: I hate CPAP.
I've had CPAP for about 5 months, and I definitely feel the benefits (took 2-3 months). Less tired, fewer headaches, so I'd say it was relatively successful. But. I hate it. Really hate it. I hate the mask and the way it feels on my face. I used to love drifting off to sleep, so relaxing and warm, ...

Re: Aloha vs Opus 360 Mask?
Has anyone compared the Aloha with the Opus 360? I'm resisting the impulse to push the button and order one, but I'd sort of like to know if there really is any difference between the two. Does any part of the Aloha touch the upper lip? That would bug me, and is one reason my Swift FX languishes in...

Re: Questions about Opus 360 Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask
John_Jason, a couple of other thoughts - I know you mentioned that you have the humidity turned all the way up, but waking up with a nosebleed really sounds like dry nasal passages - have you checked to see if the water level in the humidifier is significantly lower in the morning than when you went...

Re: Questions about Opus 360 Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask
I use the Opus and really like it, but it does take some fiddling to get it to sit right. Do try the Lansinoh - it is pure lanolin and won't degrade the pillows, and it really helps both in soothing the skin and in helping to maintain a comfortable seal. Keep your large pillows though - sometimes on...

Re: Atrial Fib convinces where arguments fail...
My little brother just called from the hospital. They got him shocked back into sinus rhythm. He went to the hospital Sunday with Atrial Fibrillation, initial treatments and drugs failed, so he called me just as they were taking him in to shock his heart. I told him back at Xmas last year that he w...

Re: Oddly, All Distilled Waters Are Not Equal
I was talking with a Scientist friend over the weekend. He said distilled water is just that... distilled water - no matter where you purchase it. Distilled water bought in one store is no better than distilled water bought in another. I am a scientist also. In theory, what your friend says is abso...

Re: Oddly, All Distilled Waters Are Not Equal
How are you supposed to clean your tank if you can't use soap? (I'm getting my machine in a couple of weeks.) I'm assuming it has to be cleaned everyday? What do you clean it with? TIA! Different people use different things - I use mild dishwashing liquid but I follow it up with a vinegar-water soa...

Re: Oddly, All Distilled Waters Are Not Equal
I second that contention. We used Wal-Mart distilled water for the first several months, and we regularly had to clean out the pink crud. Pink crud is probably mold. I got some of that a few months ago when I was being lazy and just topping off my water chamber for a couple of days in a row and onl...

I second that contention. We used Wal-Mart distilled water for the first several months, and we regularly had to clean out the pink crud. Our home distilled water rarely presents us with 'surprises" BTW; where did the weird water come from? Thanks, Chunkyfrog. The weird water was Acadia, which I th...

Oddly, All Distilled Waters Are Not Equal
Posting this in case it helps someone else - Recently I purchased a jug of steam-distilled water that was a different brand from the one I have always used before (just happened to be in a different store). The night I used water from the new jug, I awoke within about an hour of going to bed with a ...

Re: OT - Eyeglasses
This is great, I had glasses I bought several years ago and then lost them (must be the sleep apnea). So I need to get another pair or two and this is some great advice. Does it matter who we're getting the initial eye test and prescription from or can we do that just about anywhere? On the site I ...

Re: OT - Eyeglasses
I would like to find a (no line if possible) bifocal swim goggle (cheap)-- One I can wear while cutting onions. Swim goggles work very well to keep the sulfur compound out of your eyes. No tears at all--even cutting LOTS of onions. I have seen some very inexpensive single vision--but no bifocals. C...

Re: Is there a way to block posts from certain individuals?
Those who criticize and ridicule someone for asking if it is possible for them to customize their individual viewing experience on the forum have got it backwards. They are the ones with a "control problem." They are the ones who want to control the individual user who asks if there is an option to...
