Re: Weight vs Sleep Apnea
Good Morning cpap talk, Thought I'd post an update since you all have been so nice. My diet is going well. It doesn't really feel like a diet anymore because my stomach has shrunk and I just don't feel hungry. I up my caloric intake to around 1000-1200 calories occasionally. Sometimes the way ketone...

Re: Weight loss ideas
Thanks Miss Emerita,
I'm not worried...been through surgery before...and I'm going to a major teaching hospital. The possibility of breathing improvements is appealing after 10 symptomatic years.

Re: Weight loss ideas
Thanks Katie, Yes I've been around here enough to understand. I'm not losing this weight specifically to improve my cpap. I realized that it may just be easiest for me to explain it all. I have a condition called left phrenic nerve paralysis or palsy. It usually occurs following open heart surgery, ...

Re: hose cozy
I'm going to shoot for my High School weight of 185. Probably need another sleep study at that point. In a case like this, I would gradually drop the minimum pressure to 4.0 leaving the max at 20.0. If the machine raises the pressure above 4.0, you probably still need CPAP and can save the time and...

Re: Upright sleep posture produces remission
Hi...sorry you're having difficulty getting a diagnosis. About the upright posture thing. Related to positional apnea. I know I can sleep upright with no apnea also. I use it to travel. Busses, airplanes and trains always have comfortable seats to sleep in. So get yourself a good Barkolounger and yo...

Hola...
I moved from a dry New Mexico climate to the coast of Washington. No need for humidifier here...my sinuses do better without.

Weight vs Sleep Apnea
Hi folks, I'm an inactive member. Joined back when I was first diagnosed and you all were helpful. Like many SA sufferers...I have other heath issues and I was advised to lose weight. I took it seriously...started at 270 (at 6'2") and went on a fairly severe protein sparing fast. Been dropping about...

Re: Changing water
MOTZZ,
That's certainly a safe regimen. I suspect if a properly study were done, they'd find that new users are more conscientious and old times get a little lax. We just learn what works. My humidifier is clearly exposed and I can monitor clarity and level easily.
Take care,
CN

Re: Humidity Problems That Seem Unsolvable
DallasLady, I just wanted to make a comment about humidifiers in general...and it's not clear to me if your issue is a machine problem or mask or hose or whatever. But several manufacturers make a freestanding humidifier that fits between machine and your cpap hose. They may have greater adjustment ...

oops...thanks for the correction. CNchunkyfrog wrote: ↑Fri Jun 08, 2018 6:39 pmCN, Michelle states that she is USING nasal pillows.
I wonder if there is irritation due to stopping the use of a heated humidifier.

Re: Fluid buildup OVER eyes - puffy eye - Help?
Shelmail68, I agree with the above posts about your Doc. But wearing a cpap mask can do weird things to your face. I look like death warmed over when I first get up. I hardly recognize myself in the mirror. Puffy some places and others are grooved and indented. By noon and after drinking lots of wat...

If I see anything suspicious in the water when I open it up, I dump, wash, and fill with all new water.
It is rarely needed.

Re: Full Face mask for high pressure and bearded man
Hi Jollor,
I have a beard and have successfully used the old style Quattro for over 5 years. I do use home-made mask liners. The Quattro FX uses the same double silicone cuff...and I believe it's still available. My pressures are way lower then yours though. Good luck...
