Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Is there any way you can rent a ResMed VPAP so you will know for sure if it suits you or not? Unfortunately not. The cpap dealers do not carry these machines at all. They will only special order them, if they are required. That in itself concerns me. How are these dealers able to properly program t...

Seeking VPAP feedback

I was titrated a couple weeks back, using the Resperonicis Bipap. It was a very bad experience for me. I found on the inhale (Ipap) that the machine went into exhale (epap) mode before I finished the end of my Ipap. THe machine rushed my Ipap. It felt like someone put their hand over my nose, while ...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Jamis & Pugsy, thank you so very much for your feedback. I really appreciate it. I somehow need to be certain the Resmed Vpap is ok, because I have to pay out of pocket for it, as I only had my CPAP machine 3 years. Insurance will not help until 5 years after original purchase. They are a lot more e...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

After my experience with the rushed breaths of the Resperonics Bipap, during my very uncomfortable titration, I have decided to go with the Resmed Vpap Auto. Can anyone tell me, if the Resmed Vpap Auto, rushes your breaths. Does it breath with me, or do I have to breath with it. Will it cut short my...

Re: Can Anyone Recommend a Pulse Oximeter?

I use the Nonin 3150 Wrist Oximiter with Nvision software.

IT is a excellent device, however it is very expensive when you couple it with the software.

I hear that Resmed has a add in 3 pc. unit for the S9. It is hard to find & from what I understand, also quite expensive.

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Thank you so much Jamis. It actually interfered with my titration. IT was very difficult getting to sleep. Once I am asleep, its ok as my breathing becomes more shallower. I almost got up & left. I would think a sleeper that deep breathed, would wake up with a jolt if they got cut off in mid breath....

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

I had my bipap titration last night. It was a bad experience, to say the least. They used a Resperonics Straight Bipap, as opposed to a auto. It was very uncomfortable. The Ipap would switch to Epap, before I finished breathing in. I'd be 3/4 of the way through an inhale & then it felt almost like n...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Rick, I would think that someone so hypersensitive to pressures would not want an auto machine. Just saying... J Thank you Jamis & Pugsy for the great info on this. There is so much to look at when going from one xpap machine to a diferent type of xpap. I really like the Resmeds way of recording al...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

From past experience, When the doctor ordered a increase by even 1 in pressure, my AI's went up just slightly, & my HI's went down just slightly. MY EPR is full time. When my EPR was adjusted from 2 down to 1, the AI's slightly increaed & the HI's slightly decreaed. IF I am understanding things corr...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Rick, Short answer is no, there are no complicating issues with BiPap. I'm actually a little confused by your trepidation. There are some seriously complicated machines out there that are based on BiPap architecture. I'm talking BiPap auto sv advanced or avaps machines or BiPap ST. Those are all $5...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Red1 wrote: How much epr is there between the inhale & the exhale of the s9 Auto? As I understand it, with ResMed machines, an EPR of setting 1 translates to a one cm drop in exhale pressure. Setting 2 is a two cm drop and same with 3. So, as it was explained to me, using a setting of 3 is almost l...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

My pressure right now on the cpap is 6.8, with an EPR of 2. When I increased te cpap pressure to seven, the HI's slightly decreased & the AI's slightly increased giving me a AHI of 13.4. I can't seem to get it lower then that with the cpap machine. If you are dealing with a combo of residual Hs and...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

I would say the BiPap is the right choice for the titration, to be followed by an ASV if the BiPap doesn't do the trick. As for buying the BiPap and later deciding you need straight Cpap, you can generally use a BiPap like a straight Cpap by setting the inhale/exhale pressures the same. Just be sur...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Thank you jamis, Actually I have not changed in weight at all. I am a little concerned that the bipap could cause more centrals then I have now. My pressure right now on the cpap is 6.8, with an EPR of 2. When I increased te cpap pressure to seven, the HI's slightly decreased & the AI's slightly inc...

Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!

Hello everyone, I am trying to figure out what would be the best type of machine to use at this point in my life. My sleep doctor has set me up for a titration for the BIPAP machine, even though she is not sure yet as to what I should be using. I am trying to figure out if I need the Bipap or VPAP, ...
