Re: Snoring while ON cpap
Right now I am running a pressure of 14 to 20 with my average pressure 18.9 per my machine. Is it possible that I need an even stronger pressure to keep from snoring? Yes, it's possible. Which means you'd need a bilevel, the extra inhalation pressure possible could nip that snoring in the bud. Than...

Snoring while ON cpap
Hey guys-- I have been on CPAP therapy for about 6 years (or so) and have had great results until the last couple months. I have been waking up a lot at night lately, I adjust my position and then go back to sleep. This last weekend a friend of mine said I was snoring loudly while wearing my CPAP ma...

Re: When you don't always feel those "good" numbers
Pugsy -- Wow, a very long journey for you thus far. I hope the cortisone shots continue to work for you and help to solve that one piece of your sleep puzzle. I have had 3 back surgeries in the last 5 years, the last was a fusion of my L5-S1 vertebrae... I am VERY lucky that I have had 0 pain since ...

Re: FFM vs Nasal
I believe this really is a comfort issue for most people that decide to wear a FFM who are not mouth breathers. Personally I have a Wisp nasal mask for 95% of the time and a FitLife total mask for when I have sinus issues. I sleep far better with my nasal mask than my FFM, but when my allergies are ...

Re: Mask recommendations
Just wondering RainMom, do you clean your mask seal often? If I forget to clean mine for a couple nights I have horrible leaks.

I would honestly like to thank all of you who post on this forum with your genuine experiences and advice, it has helped me a lot since I started therapy years ago. Re: rain out rain in or dreaming ?
If the air in your room was very cool you can get condensation from your breathe even if you weren't using the humidifier. I have the same problem when I use my CPAP camping in the fall/winter without my heated hose going. If the air in your room wasn't very cold... well I guess you were just dreami...

Re: Mask Taken Off Mid Sleep, Help Keeping On
I struggled with this for a few months when I first started cpap therapy. Went as far as taping the headgear and wearing mittens to bed and I would still wake up with my mask laying next to me in bed. One thing I found that really solved it for me was to buy a thin balaclava (helmet liner) and wear ...

Re: Battery jumper boxes: comparing Apples to Apples......
My experience with a jumpstart box was not a good one. Took it camping thinking I would get a couple nights out of it, ended up with 6 hours of sleep before it shut off. No humidifier, just cpap. Now I mainly camp in a camper and I have a large Deep Cycle Marine battery that is wired to a 12 volt ja...

Re: TSA and CPAPs
It has probably been about 2 years since I was asked to remove my cpap machine from it's case. If you fly a lot it is probably worth getting "pre-check" $80 for 5 years of quick airport security.

Re: Snoring while on CPAP
Thanks for the replies everyone. I did get a new machine, I will have to update my profile. I haven't used the sleepyhead software for a super long time, will have to reinstall it on my computer and check out the data. Right now my APAP is set from 16 to 20 (20 is the highest a standard APAP machine...

Snoring while on CPAP
Good morning-- I have been on cpap therapy for about 5 years or so and it has changed my life. Over the last year I have gained about 40lbs, won't get into details but I am heading in for my 3rd back surgery soon so physical activity has been very limited. My Avg pressure on my machine has been hove...

Re: Bad Habits While Sleeping
Hey Joe-- I struggled with this a lot when I first started on cpap therapy. I tried wearing mittens, taping the mask to my face, socks on my hands etc. None of it really made a difference. One thing that worked very well for me was buying a thin balaclava used as a helmet liner. Put your cpap mask o...

Re: Bloating
I have been on cpap for over a year and this still happens to me, could never find a way to make it stop. It isn't painful anymore, so I guess my body has adjusted to it. One unfortunate side effect of this is that I pass a lot more gas in the morning than I ever did before cpap.
