Re: Philips ASV vs Resmed S10 ASV
There are differences in the breathing algorithms amoungst the manufacturers. One will likely closely match your natural breathing pattern and be easier to adjust to. It's just a shame that new patients cannot trial several machines to see which is a good match. So, it's hit or miss with most of us...

Re: Cmparison ASV: Phillips VS Resmed
does everyone agree that the resmed s9 or s10 is better than the philips asv bipap autosv? the resmed is really sensitive and quickly sometimes blows high pressure, then sometimes it can be more quiet. but people are saying it's better I started taking pharmas to increase the effect of the asv and g...

Re: Increased lung capacity?
what is may happening is that you can achieve better control of asthma when you use a cpap and have sleep apnea control I'm having to run to the ER and get solumedrol for rib pain and came down with pneumonia, having bad inflammation these days and the inhalers stopped working. I take singulair and ...

Philips ASV vs Resmed S10 ASV
which ASV does everyone prefer Philips or the Resmed S10? I have both right now
I'm thinking of selling a new Resmed S10 to the highest offer. I had several strokes

Re: ASV settings, Handicapped with CSA+OSA
how do I get oxygen??
my sleep surgeon is really nasty and won't give me the oxygen even though I had it prescribed before. the insurance may require 88% during the day which seems ridiculous but I did have a reading lower than that

Re: ASV settings, Handicapped with CSA+OSA
I had 2 strokes and am horribly handicapped. my oxygen was dangerously low so they titrated me on a bipap of 18/14 to raise my O2 to the 90s. On the resmed ASV I was on 5-15cm PS I think but it didn't work that well. I feel better on the Phillips I'm thinking of going with an EPAP of 8-14cm it seems...

ASV settings, Handicapped with CSA+OSA
I'm experimenting with ASV settings. I set the EPAP to 6 and had the PS max on a lower 16cm with PS min 0, max IPAP 25cm, auto and I demasked and woke up feeling sick and tired kind of foggy. I don't know how to keep the mask on. My sleep study showed centrals and obstructive. I have severe obstruct...

Re: Fired My Sleep Doctor
so having a 0 ps min is going to help centrals and lower central apnea events?
the epap is supposed to treat obstructives, I don't know if 4cm min is a good idea for me since I have severe obstruction of the soft palate

Re: Fired My Sleep Doctor
Is this what you were talking about, palerider, when you said a machine with a more aggressive algorithm would be more effective? yes. be cautious with raisedfist's advice, because too much minimum PS can exacerbate central apneas. also, please stop scrolling down the left panel before screenshots....

Re: Fired My Sleep Doctor
I seem to feel a lot better today at 0 min ps, epap min 4 and max ps 15? I don't know if that is masking some centrals and apneas. but a min epap of 0 doesn't make sense because I have severe obstruction of the soft palate collapsing up in to my nose, I don't know if 14cm max epap is enough to open ...

Re: Fired My Sleep Doctor
They found severe obstruction of my soft palate. I'm not sure if that can mimic centrals. I'm experimenting with an EPAP of 9-14cm and a max IPAP of 25cm, max ps=max, maybe 15cm, min ps=0. Maybe I should change the min ps to 5.0 cm or lower the min epap to 4cm? I always go with the auto setting. Hav...

Trach not working
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Sleep-Apnea---Disorders/Hypoxemia--sleep-apnea-in-a-patient-with-a-trach/show/746556 I'm just in despair that the trach hasn't worked after 2 months, here's some proof that it doesn't work in a possible central apnea patient. I'm on a shiley 4mm today and feeling foggy s...
