Re: Apnea's and Pacemaker

Sorry to hear you're having difficulty. I got a PM/Defibrillator in December, and the biggest deal with the PM has been the lump near my left collar bone that makes sleeping on my left side quite uncomfortable. So, I've had to flop around ad try to be comfortable otherwise. I've slept more on my bac...

Re: From heart attack in July to Defib implant in December

Best of luck, did the quad in 2005, and 2 stents a month before. Did the defibrillator 2006, whole thing turned out badly. No rehab heart too bad 35%. Defibrillator installed with known defective leads, been in 9+ years, same battery, lied to from the day they installed it. Never has fired, that a ...

From heart attack in July to Defib implant in December

It's been a while- not only have I been in cardiac rehab, but have done some back physical therapy trying to improve my weak back and core muscles. But all that has stopped, as Tuesday I go in for an implanted defib unit, and no rehab for a few weeks while healing. Don't need to pull out those tiny ...

Re: new sleep challenge- heart attack

As I said, I brought my xPAP this time, along with my laptop, Did NOT manage to grab hose and a mask, so they'll fix me up, right?!?! Sorta; I got a hose that fits at both ends, but is not particularly flexible; and a sorta-looks like some ancient version of a ffm similar to Quattro. Pathetic headge...

Re: Worried about extreme tightness in chest during day

Thank you for your concern...but I feel more concerned that PAP is doing something weird to my breathing (Maybe I should have mentioned this before).... but I have felt this before occasionally, and when I mentioned this sensation to a doctor in April, they did one of those breathing tests on me .....

Re: new sleep challenge- heart attack

Did they tell you what caused your heart attack? Blockage? Arrhythmia? Good question, and I don't know if they know, yet. Ironically, I'm back in hospital tonight after some hiccups today. So it may begin to look like arrhythmia, but it's still up for grabs. When the Doc came by, he said I have a w...

Re: new sleep challenge- heart attack

Thanks for all the encouragement. No open heart, two stints via a tender spot that is still sore 2 weeks later. I'll never forget the chest drain, though. When it came time to remove it, the MD ask for some cutting tool to cut the stitches, then without a word, rips out that monster. I think it surp...

new sleep challenge- heart attack

well, surprise. with only enough warning to get to the ER, i suffered a major heart attack on Mon 6th. My only ongoing indicator was high cholesterol, and growing fatigue. This has been a life changer- never have I felt so weak, especially coming home to mid-90's heat. Although as far as the heart g...

Back surgery and 3rd SS

...jut a bit more on my recovery from 3rd sleep study (SS) in May and 1 June back surgery (spinal fusion L4/L5). Good results on back surgery (2nd in 1 year); Doc pleased at 2-weeek checkup. Unfortunately the total disruption of my schedule of being in hospital 3 days and nights has left me with bad...

mixed results, 3rd sleep doc

First, thanks ChicagoGranny for the insight on changing from ADAPT to ASV. I may not be doing that any too soon... After Sunday night-split sleep study (SS), I doubted that I had slept enough for a decent evaluation, but sleep doc said it was good. Monday afternoon, I got the "debrief" from Doc. He ...

win 8.1 corrupts my portable 750GB drive

Any ideas on how to recover my backup drive? Yesterday I plugged in my USB drive to search for a file, and the error message said Windows cannot read the drive. Properties shows Size 0, used space 0. I'd rather not reformat; and don't know if it would, given "dear Win 8.1" doesn't like my drive now....

Re: Third sleep doc; 3rd study upcoming

Thanks all for the thoughts.
I'll quiz the doc next week when I have my after study appointment.
What generation is the respironics in- last I recall folks talking about is the 650; I haven't gotten any sense other than the comment regarding S10 humidifier.

Third sleep doc; 3rd study upcoming

Tuesday I drove 140 mi -x2 to Ft Worth to see a new sleep doc, Donald Watenpaugh at Texas Pulmonary/Sleep Consultants. He seemed intent on grasping what I'm dealing with (in sharp contrast to two Abilene 'sleep docs'). He offered me some specific advice on using the FitLife- he says it's the better ...

Re: What do you think of this training mask?

Many years ago, I tried wearing a filter mask -with the two disc masks on it- to work outside. After trying to push a lawn mower around a small yard, I decided wearing the mask was just practicing for hypoxia ... and I got enough of that kind of 'training' doing altitude chanbers in the Air Force. G...

Re: Pillows for side sleepers

I tried a cutout pillow, then tried a Sobakawa bead-filled pillow. Bought it at Bed,Bath,Beyond. It is formable to what is comfortable at the moment , and I'm very satisfied with it. I bought the smaller size since I don't have large shoulders, esp for a man. Suggest you give it a try... best of luck.
