Re: Cleaning Silicone Cushions (Poll)

Since I noticed you are using a PR System One machine and also a SoClean machine to insure germ-free equipment, I'll bet you don't know about the two silicone port gaskets inside the humidifier housing that need to be cleaned from time to time. To find them look under the hatch lid and then at the ...

Re: CPAP User- Melatonin/Sleep Aid Advive

If you do try melatonin, you will probably want a sustained release formula since your issue is sleep maintenance, not sleep onset. You also may need to play around with doses--sometimes less is more with melatonin. 3 mg is a commonly found dose, but you can also find sustained release melatonin at ...

Re: Amara gel FFM--what am I doing wrong?

Unfortunately, my DME did not have the Quattro Air. (One of many reasons that I continue to be pretty unimpressed with them.) I was able to get the Mirage Quattro, and at least sitting up it didn't leak. I need to spend some time this evening working with it lying down to get it all fitted right. Bu...

Re: Amara gel FFM--what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I am glad to hear that I'm not the only one in the world whose face apparently doesn't fit this mask. I have an appointment today to go exchange it, and I will insist on trying at least one of the Quattros. I did ask to try the Mirage Quattro when I was there yester...

Amara gel FFM--what am I doing wrong?

I've used nasal pillows since getting diagnosed about 2.5 years ago, but due to nasal congestion issues I wanted to try a FFM. (Plus I've met my deductible for the year, so this seemed like a good time to try!) The DME strongly suggested the Amara Gel, and since it was on my list of FFMs that people...

Re: Leaking ResMed Swift LT

I also use the Swift LT, and I agree about trying different nasal pillow sizes. My RT told me to use the XS pillows, but those leaked like crazy. I used the small for awhile, and have eventually ended up being happier with the medium, in spite of my apparently tiny nostrils. Also I second the recomm...

Re: Onkor problem repaired

I'm fine with having a fresh start. I have all my old data files and I can always re-upload them if I need to.

I appreciate all your work on Onkor!

Anyone having trouble with Onkor today?

It's been about 4 days since I last uploaded my data into Onkor, and today I find I can't get in. When I enter my username and password and then click the login button, nothing happens. I've tried two different browsers on my Mac, and a different browser on my husband's PC. Is anyone else having thi...

Re: Is Onkor still working?

I used it this morning. It was very slow, but in my experience it always is. (Not complaining--it's free!)

Re: Nasal pillows & stuffy nose

I was able to use oral decongestants and a bit of nose spray and breathe just fine. I just cranked up the humidity and slept about as well as to be expected with a cold. Pugsy, what oral decongestants do you find work best for you? I have a mild cold but it doesn't take much to stop up my nose. I'v...

Re: Opinions: C-Flex vs. A-Flex

Well I tried the A-flex last night (setting 3, because I'd used 3 on C-flex). I liked it okay, BUT my AHI was 16.4 when I checked my data this morning! The night before--first night with the new mask--my AHI was 5.6. Unfortunately I had also changed the nasal pillows--used XS last night, and Small t...

Re: Opinions: C-Flex vs. A-Flex

Thanks for the opinions and information. I hadn't realized there was a "demo" setting; I tried it out on A-flex and I think I like it. My machine is set on auto so it sounds like I should be using A-flex anyway. So tonight, I will!

Opinions: C-Flex vs. A-Flex

Those of you who have tried both C-Flex and A-Flex (i.e., C-Flex+), which do you prefer? My DME set up my REMstar to be on C-Flex. It sounds to me like A-Flex is probably more comfortable for breathing out, but I haven't wanted to change the setting yet because I am trying to restrain myself to only...

Re: Real problems -- don't know where to turn

HI- 6) the little red light on the finger oxygen monitor is distracting and obnoxious You've gotten plenty of good advice so I will just address this one issue. This drove me crazy too. It's easy to say you should put your hand under the covers--but 4 or 5 times I moved my hand toward my face while...

Re: Introduction and question

I'm happy to say I'm now in possession of a Swift LT for Her mask. My DME apparently had them in stock--wonder why she didn't even let me try it the first time I saw her? Pugsy, thanks for reassuring me about the REs. I will try not to obsess about RE and CA, and spend the next few weeks focusing on...
