Re: How many Central Apenas are too many?

It is not unusual for some folks to see an increase in centrals when on cpap....aka 'complex sleep apnea'. But just like osa, csa is still scored the same....5 and under constitutes normal breathing. So yes, they are scored in the same manner and all add into your total AHI, and as long as you are 5...

Wow, 6 months already? It's good to hear from you and see that you're still plugging along. I remember you had a rocky start and I wasn't sure if you were going to keep going. Keep up the good work!

Re: New ASV User - Periods of Hypopnea

I've seen quite a bit of concern about these hypopneas when I don't it should be that much of a concern. Our machines are designed to detect blockages and hypoventilation, and once detected, to resolve it. Let's remember that to be an apnea, the breathing must be stopped for 10 seconds or longer. If...

Re: New to CPAP - cannot cope with it

I had been looking forward to CPAP. But after two days I want to throw the thing out the window. When I do fall asleep, it's only for about 30 minutes before I wake up in a panic so intense I rip the mask off and drop it on the floor. When my mouth pops open, the noise and oddness I don't know why ...

!

I just got my ASV yesterday and used it first time last nite. I LOVE it. I loved the overnite trial at the sleep center trIal, but I wasn't sure how it would be at home. Well, it's just as wonderful. I had problems with my mask and the seal around it (ffm), but I can fix that without waking up lol....

Re: ASV users: the everything ASV thread.

Question: I am using the PR bipap ST with ok results, but still not great. Do you think that the ASV is worth my looking into? I see my doc next Thurs. Thanks. (I only just found this website today, and this is the first time I've ever heard of "ASV". This website is an eye-opener for me! I'd defin...

Re: Sleep Apnea? You make the call!

A sleep study is a great idea for what you've got going. The one thing I didn't read is that you are waking up out of breath or that your wife notices that you're not breathing at night. If you mentioned those it would be an easier call to say that you have sleep apnea. The fatigue could be because ...

Re: Can't stay asleep

I'm a newbie, and am still learning. I wake up a few times a night too. I am using the same CPAP and humidifier as you are. Even though I wake up a lot my AHI's are down to zero. So, something is working right, even though I still feel tired a lot. I don't feel any different. -Kathryn Down to zero?...

6'-3", 250.

I've got central apnea and weight has absolutely nothing to do with centrals. If I had a doc like that, CSA would have already killed me.

Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)

You're on the right track, for most of us it does take a while...days, weeks, even months. One also must take charge of their therapy and continually work it. Keep up the good work and good luck!
