Re: ALL CLEAR about the urgent warning
Now to confuse things even more. The time change has messed with my Encore Pro data times. Only times. I have no hour long breaks in the reports but I cannot get the times to match. Pro 2 has an option for DST being observed but it doesn't quite do the trick. Still tells me I went to bed an hour ea...

Re: Setting the Clock on the System One
I made the adjustment in EncorePro to DST on Sunday and now it thinks events reported by the machine are one hour earlier (e.g. it thinks I turned the machine off @ 5:30 a.m. and not 6:30 a.m.). What's up with that? If the machine is on GMT, that shouldn't happen. The DST adjustment should work. Sho...

Re: Unsupportive Spouse (A Brief Rant)
My husband doesn't fuss at all about my cpap, and he doesn't pull pranks....but he is dead. It's been almost a decade now of raising little ones alone, going on vacation alone, facing accidents, illnesses, and tragedies alone...........so while he's been a dickens Drowsy Dancer, he's alive, above g...

Re: Unsupportive Spouse (A Brief Rant)
One thing that HE agrees helped him most, was that I made him wear the mask and turn on the machine for a few minutes - the whole deal of lying down, trying to get comfy etc., really gave him an understanding of what I have to deal with each night. Now that's a thought! Maybe I'll turn off the ramp...

Re: Encore viewer 2 - Interpreting results
The fact that there is no printout page of standards does not mean that the data reported by the software are meaningless.

Re: Encore viewer 2 - Interpreting results
What I seem to get out of this is that people who have the software to obtain results look primarily at the AHI reading and everything else brings on a glazed look in their eyes because they are not sure what it all means. Well, not necessarily. Your eyes may still be glazing over but there are som...

Re: Unsupportive Spouse (A Brief Rant)
Yes, definitely just being a kid. Apparently it is unreasonable of me to expect maturity from someone who is only 58 on his next birthday. What's ironic is that I'm pretty sure he has sleep apnea too, so he would be better off walking in my shoes with a mask on also. Since it took me over two years ...

Unsupportive Spouse (A Brief Rant)
My spouse THINKS he is being very supportive of my CPAP treatment. There are some things, however, he just doesn't get. For one thing, he doesn't understand that it is difficult for a new user to fall asleep while using the darned thing. I have sleep-onset centrals and I find that the machine goes n...

Re: EncoreViewer? New to community, need advice.
The software available to you will run on a Win 7 machine. It takes a long time to install because of SQL Server. It is well worth the effort to learn a bit about how to interpret the data you can start pulling off your CPAP machine (change the setting so you don't automatically wipe the SD card). P...

Re: What is the Difference Between Flex (Respironics) and BiPAP?
<snip> Some people complain that CFlex of 3 makes them need to breathe "too fast" to keep up with the machine. They lower the setting and can get along much better at a lower setting.<snip> Ah! Thank you for this. I changed my Flex from 2 to 3 on Friday night when I went from nasal mask to nasal pi...

Re: What is the Difference Between Flex (Respironics) and BiPAP?
Respironics FLEX isn't a set cm H2O drop... the only thing that you can know is that it's the biggest drop you can get on a CPAP/APAP machine when you're set to 3. BiPAP on the other hand you can have a set exhale drop... plus you can also have BiFLEX. Oh, der (as my 14-year-old would say). So it's...

What is the Difference Between Flex (Respironics) and BiPAP?
Edited to add: for anyone who happens on this thread, the discussion in this thread http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58773&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=45 is extremely helpful on the subject touched on. I am still struggling with concepts and their related vocabulary one month after bringing my m...

Re: Cleaning CPAP Equipment
Is this the oldest living thread on this forum? I wonder if rested gal is still emptying out her humidifier once a year or so. I dump the empty water out of mine every morning but it seems like a waste of good distilled water. Maybe every other day...and I start sliding ever so gently down the slipp...

Re: Reasonable Expectations for Therapy
It's just that I was told that CPAP eliminated events and APAP eliminated most and ameliorated the others. CPAP will not eliminate something called "sleep onset" central apneas. Some people have these, as you might surmise from the name, as they are falling asleep. My sleep doc describes them as "m...
