Re: One congested nostril. Still attempt nasal pillows?

I have a deviated septum on the right side and did not think any nasal appliance would ever work for me - but - I have since trained myself to breathe through my nose as the my pressure (9) opens the deviated side when I use pillows. My two favorites are the Aloha and the the ResMed LT.

Re: favorite nasal mask? - other than a pillow mask

My favorite nasal mask was the cheapest one sold right now - F&P Aclaim 2 Nasal CPAP Mask. You must feed it from above as the hose is stationary as I recall. $39.95 at the host's site.

Re: Aloha Update

I just put in an order with Karen this morning. Wish I'd known she had strap covers for the Aloha. Oh well, I'll wait and see how you like them and then I'll order them. I've liked my Aloha since the first night I used it but I keep liking it more every time I wear it. You can find something wrong ...

Re: Aloha Update

I too was having problems with marks being very noticeable from my Aloha - I called Karen at Pad-a-Cheek and she designed straps to fit the Aloha and I ordered them and they are absolutely great - just wanted to let you all know that she has them available. I just took the old ones off and the pad-...

Re: Stupid or sadistic devices to stop mouth breathing

Here's a serious suggestion for you mouth breathers out there. I was a total mouth breather with a deviated septum on my right nostril and here is how I trained myself to breathe through my nose in about a month. After trying all types of masks except the oral ones, I found nasal pillows to be the k...

Re: Aloha Update

I have the top strap in the slot you all don't use, so I'll try that. The pillow I use is named "My Pillow" and was very expensive. It has done well for me. I must have tried a half dozen different ones including a CPAP pillow. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Aloha Update

Thanks for your reply, "K" and I'm glad I'm not the only one. I wear that thing much looser than any other appliance I've used and just don't understand the marks unless I get 'em more when I side-sleep. I used the LT before Aloha and liked it a lot so I didn't have to go through a learning curve wi...

Anybody used cpap in hospital lately?

I had heart surgery mid-October and am recovering quite nicely - NO THANKS TO THE RESPIRATORY GROUP. The hospital insists you use their machines but will allow you to bring your own mask. The first night I didn't know I could use my own so I used some kind of after-market FFM but that's not the wors...

Aloha Update

On my third Aloha and still loving it except for one thing - the facial straps are leaving permanent marks just below my jawbone. For the last two nights I used my LT and the former marks have faded somewhat. I use medium pillows with the Aloha but had to go up to large with the LT. I guess my old ...

Re: Possible Afib & Cpap????

I had A. Fib. and cpap did not affect my treatment one way or the other. I can't imagine what tests you might be waiting to hear from as a simple EKG will show if you are or aren't. I always knew when I went into it as I could feel it in my chest (fight or flight feeling). My cardio also referred me...

16 months in and I check daily - probably will continue due to heart situation. If I err I want to know quickly before I get into a bad habit.

Re: OSA can cause mis-dignoses in dementia cases

Doing well, Dreamstalker, and thanks for asking. I guess this is possible but I'm leery - every day or so you read something else that OSA adversely affects; a few weeks ago cancer was thrown into the mix - now dementia. 15 months ago I didn't even know what OSA was and I wouldn't even react to folk...

Re: Bed pillows for sleeping

I think I have tried every kind of pillow except the CPAP pillow and always come back to a regular non-allergenic foam pillow. I wear pillows and am a side sleeper - no problems.

Aloha Mask - Price Increase

Well, wouldn't you just know it? My favorite mask just went up to $99. Next time I really like something new I'll give it 2 or 3 stars. Glad I had the foresight to get two.

Another suggestion would be to contact a sleep center there.
