Re: Perfect Storm: Sinus, lung Infection & bronchitis

I got the Encore Pro 1.8.65 to run on a laptop with XP on it. In the last 20 days (approx) I have had the worst breathing ever. During 8 of the 20 days I have not initiated breaths for over an hour at a time.,, with pressures of 30cmH2o during that time frame. On my worst night (Approx) I initiated ...

Re: Perfect Storm: Sinus, lung Infection & bronchitis

Still fighting the Bronchitis, severe cough to the point I take heavy pain meds for rib pain. How did I get COPD? Born with it I guess. I was born with some defects, one of which was Bronchitis, which became Chronic I guess. I was also born with something they now call CCHS. My mom told me the first...

Re: Getting a different machine from DME, advice?

If you are a "nice guy", ask them how high you have to escalate your problem to get it resolved in your favor? If they are smart, they will hand you over to the person who can really help you. If you don't get satisfaction, PM me. BTW, I keep notes in MS Word every time I call Apria. Name, date, eve...

Re: Perfect Storm: Sinus, lung Infection & bronchitis

Sickwithapnea17, I have not tried Spiriva Lord knows I think I have tried nearly everything else. I have a new blue Puffer, forget the name of it, but it did help me breathe. One doctor thinks I already have what the Mayo Clinic calls MCI. Mild Cognitive Impairment. I do have so memory problems, but...

Re: Perfect Storm: Sinus, lung Infection & bronchitis

Thanks for the kind words, COPD plus all the other things wrong with me are not fun, but the wife and all five kids love me so it could be a lot worse. Lots of people worse off than I am. In fact, if it gets to be any more fun I am not sure I can stand it.

Perfect Storm: Sinus, lung Infection & bronchitis

What would happen if you developed a Sinus Infection, a lung infection and your Chronic Bronchitis hit all at 9pm at night? Your machine is the Respironics BiPAP Auto Servo Ventilator. I used a lot of Afrin. I used 360mg of Prescription Allegra, I wound up taking 45mg of oxycodone before my cough su...

Encore Pro data has "dashes" in the line

My Encore Pro data is a solid line most of the time, but lately I have had several days with dashes in it. Like ----------- that. The data is there, but not in the usual solid line. The lines move up and down according to the pressure, etc., but they are not the usual solid line. I searched for this...

Re: Help, my O2 machine almost died!!!!

I bought a device called the Kill-a-Watt for around $25 to see how much electricity my devices were using. My oxygen machine uses about 375 watts when titrated at 2.5 to 3 LPM. My UPS can handle that just fine. My SV takes around 75 watts (with the HH on). Well within my APC 1500s capabilities as I ...

Re: Help, my O2 machine almost died!!!!

UPS - Uninterupted Power Supply. I have an APC smart unit that I have been using for several years. I have a friend who owns a battery shop and his son works in computers. The son brought in several UPS units whose batteries were dead. My friend knew of my situation and sold me the 1500 "Smart UPS" ...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?

I have had a Service Dog for about 5 years. My wife trains them. If you want help finding one, PM me and I will have her answer your questions. As for getting sick? I don't know whether you are on CPAP, BiPAP or what. First thing I would do is start a separate thread here and ask some of the members...

Re: Now I am hitting 30cmH2O/taking mask off.

John, No sooner do I speak than I started off tonight with 8-10 minutes of solid Apnea. Breathing rate dropped from around 19 to 8 (SV regulating the breathing rate), the Patient Triggered Breaths (PTB) dropped from a solid 100% to around 70%, pressure went into the low 20s until my brain figured it...

Re: Now I am hitting 30cmH2O/taking mask off.

John, I find it interesting that you know ahead of time when you will have problems with "Patient Triggered Breathing". I never know before hand. My machine starts out low and if it is needed, sometime during the night it cranks it up. I have to wear a nasal device, as opposed to a full face mask be...

Re: Now I am hitting 30cmH2O/taking mask off.

Hi Dan, My leakage is within the tolerances set by Resmed. That being said, they did not have any official leakage figures for 30cmH2O. I called them looking for that info. I have always had a certain amount of leakage, quite normal per Resmed. In the 20s if I remember correctly. I have slept throug...

Now I am hitting 30cmH2O/taking mask off.

Twice in the last month I have woke up hearing Hurricane Katrina next to my ear. It is my mask. Once I realize what is happening, I turn the SV off, pull out the card and go read it. Yes, even at 3AM I go read it. Last night I was at 30cmH2O for about 15 minutes, SV dropped my rate of breathing from...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?

New twist to high pressure. I heard a hurricane close by, my wife was shaking me and suddenly I sat up. The mask was on the floor, the machine was whistling away and my wife was concerned. I went on to 100% oxygen using the oxygen mask, picked up my normal mask and checked it for torn pieces. It was...
