Re: Getting Caught Up (State of Machines Late 2016)
So my annual deductibles have been met and it's now as cheap as it's ever going to be for me to replace my Resmed S9 Autoset. Since I've been away from the board for a while, I wanted to get caught up on what the state-of-the-art is with regard to APAP machines. I've been very happy with my current...

Re: Dry Mouth
Update after day 2 - My mouth was not as dry last night. It didn't feel any drier then when I was on the S9, which was never enough to bother me. I don't know why I had the problem with the new S10. I just updated my software so I could check everything out. I noticed that the pressure is up, and A...

Re: Sleeping only 3 or 4 hours with CPAP
Hi, I have been on CPAP for only a few weeks, and I am still getting used to it. I have noticed over the last few nights that I tend to go to sleep fairly quickly now (while it was a struggle when I started CPAP) but only stay asleep for 3 or 4 hours. I therefore wake up at 1am or 2am, quite refres...

Re: How to find a new sleep doctor?
Yes, I had (still have) a data capable machine and was using Sleepyhead to look at it. The doctor was checking the data at each visit. I tried pretty much everything except nasal cleansing. I tried several chin straps. No issues with breathing through the nose normally. The only prescription drug I...

Re: Mouth breathing with full face mask and chin strap woes.
Do chin straps actually work? I have never tried one because I assume you could still open your lips and breathe through your teeth. If one uses a Resmed cpap machine then it is OK if air is going out through the mouth as long as it is at a rate of less than 30 liter per minute. So you could use a ...

I don't use a collar yet but if I decide to get one I would follow the sizing chart in this website (you need to click on SIZING CHART): http://www.braceshop.com/procare-form-fit-cervical-collar.htm http://www.braceshop.com/productcart/pc/catalog/images_procare/sternalnotch.jpg Size Instructions: He...

many beginners are told to put the mask (only) on during daytimes to get used to it.

Re: New to Sleep Apnea
Peter, there are discussion forums for people who are on oxygen. In this present forum there are only few who use oxygen together with CPAP machines. If I check around I see that those oxygen forums are for people with COPD disease (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). But you have other disease....

Re: Mouth breathing with full face mask and chin strap woes.
usually, you don't use a chinstrap together with a full face mask. you can see in these photos the mess with the head straps if you combine these. are you ready to switch to a nasal mask together with a chinstrap? https://1187b4d09c41350ddef3-8a2c38c8946b4d497918152d3d6bf41f.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/delu...

Re: Quick - How low can you go on BiPAP exhalation pressure?
[quote="robysueThe OP is looking for a *cheap* way to test the idea that he might do better on a bilevel than he's doing on his Resmed S9 AutoSet. The $45 M-series BiPAP is an exceptionally *cheap* way for him to experiment with determining whether bilevel is something he might want to pursue for co...

Re: Quick - How low can you go on BiPAP exhalation pressure?
Exhaling pressure of 5 cm H2O in a CPAP is similar to using a straw to blow bubbles in a glass with less than 2 inches of water in it.
Try it out.
Try it out.

Re: Can't sleep with pressure - suffocation feeling
[I don’t know why my machine isn’t displayed - it’s the ResMed S9 AutoSet.] My sleep study recommended 6cm pressure. The incoming pressure prevents me from exhaling completely, unless I conciously push the rest of the air out (which is no good when I’m trying to sleep and my breathing is becoming l...

Re: Long Wait for Specialist Appointment, What Can I do Now?
Hi Albertan, you posted: so I went to a sleep centre (referred by my doctor) . What about your doctor helping you by contacting the sleep tech and the specialist? If a doctor {MD or OD} referred you to a sleep center then he/she is responsible for expediting the situation. Keep calling the office.
