I also appreciate the input. I'll probably go with a topper since there is no way I could afford the other!!
Many thanks for the leads.

Re: Apnea and Mattresses
i spent a few days at a friend's house where there was a 3 inch memory foam pad. I got the best ahi scores ever and I have been wondering if that made the difference between ahi of 1.6 and 10.5 (at home) I looked on amazon and found a Serta 4 in at a reasonable price. I dont think I can afford the r...

it has never happened to me but I have put some essential oil on a tissue under the air intake so I get "good smells" vs anything else!!

Re: Should cpaptalk Be Divided Into Categories or Subsections?
I think some categories would be helpful. i am new to all this and some of the info is beyond me at this point but I am so happy it's there for when I get there. I'd like to see the subject heading in posts really reflect the subject and I'd like to see a "newbies" section as I suspect a lot of us n...

Re: S9 users: Do you prefer Autopap or CPAP mode?
I have had xpap for 5 weeks. 10 days ago my dr changed me from cpap to apap. My cpap was set to 10. Now apap is set 8-12. My ahi scores on the s9 have been considerably higher on the apap. I am giving it til after Christmas so there is time to get a real idea. apap sounds like it would be the perfec...

need clarification about cleaning mask
Hi I have been on cpap for 4 weeks....when the DME clinician set me up she said, clean the mask every day with an alcohol free baby wipe and wash it once a week. The little manual says to wash it every day. So I have been either wiping it with a baby wipe OR submerging it in warm water and ivory liq...

Re: more AHI? from a newbie
Thanks so much. I'll track for a month or so and see what happens. I am going to give the aromatherapy a try too, mainly because I think it sounds appealing. I just have no idea what to expect!! This forum is very helpful!

more AHI? from a newbie
Hi I've been using my cpap for 1 month. I feel comfortable with the mask now that I have the nosepad. I saw the doctor for the 1st time 2 days ago. He seemed very nice. I expressed my concerns that my AHI is all over the place. It has ranged from 1.6 to 9. My pressure was set to 10 based on the titr...

Re: Speaking of Colds
Full disclaimer!! I am a complete newbie to all this and I do not KNOW what to do. What I think I would do is not use the mask etc until the cold is gone. I would wash the mask and tube etc and let it air dry before using it again. I have only had my cpap for 3 weeks but it seems to me it will brew ...

leakage and mouth breathing
After reading some of the posts here I fooled around with my resmed s9 buttons and found that it says leakage 7.2 L min
Can someone explain that to me? EPR is medium...what does that mean? and does it matter if you breathe with your mouth if you have a full face mask?
many thanks, bayourest

Re: new to all of this
thanks Emilia
I will pm Uncle Bob.
My machine is set to start at 5 and ramp up to 10 in 20 min.
that is all I know. By fooling around with the small manual they gave me I now can see AHI and change humidity (it is set at 3.0) and warm the water before starting cpap.

new to all of this
Hi I am new to this forum and to CPAP. I have had a ResMed S9 for 3 weeks. (I have had a lot of trouble sleeping for years and was recently diagnosed with OSA.) I have a quattro full face mask. There are a number of things that are confusing to me: when I had the titration sleep study, I was told I ...
