Re: Not sure if this is a taboo topic around here but..

Weed, Xanax, alcohol (not at the same time!) all reduce my AHI. No idea why. Cliff is right. Truth is there are a lot of theories about sleep apnea but it is a complex issue that is still in the experimental stage of treatment. Personally I think it's fascinating that CNS depressants decrease apnea...

Sleepweaver Anew For Sale - New in Box

I bought the Sleepweaver Anew a few years ago when I bought the Sleepweaver Advance and Elan. I like both of those masks so much that I never even tried the Anew. I don't breathe through my mouth, so no reason to use a full face mask. Please p.m. if interested.

Re: Didn't sleep enough during sleep study?

Hi Steve, I barely slept during my sleep study. I slept for about 90 minutes and did not go into REM sleep, but they were still able to make a diagnosis of sleep apnea and titrate me. I have an S9 Autoset so I am able to see what my AHI is nightly, as well as leak rate, etc.. Their titration was sur...

Re: Is my "new" machine used?

I looked at his machine that is a little over a year old and the firmware is 905, so this machine, with firmware of 903 is probably at least 1.5 to 2 years old and sold to me as new for full price. I have an AutoSet that will be 2 years old at the end of December (2013) that has the 0903 version. A...

Re: Is my "new" machine used?

I remember a discussion from about a year ago where someone in the sleep profession stated that CPAP machines can legally be refurbished by the manufacturer and only the manufacturer can reset the run hours back to zero. On the other hand, they must clearly package the machine as refurbished. If th...

Is my "new" machine used?

I just got a "new" ResMed S9 to replace my old one and noticed that the plastic lid on the humidifier and the plastic cover of the readout side of the S9 is scratched. When I got my last one new, it had plastic covers over those areas that could be peeled off. I looked and the machine has 270 run ho...

Re: I'm Almost Afraid To Go To Sleep

OMG! I feel obscurely as if I've accomplished something! http://www.xcski.com/~vjrnts/cpap_info/nov_23_13.png That's 12 CAs but 8 of them are clustered around falling asleep and waking up, and those don't bother me. Only 2 during the night! And I spent a lot of time last night waking up and going b...

Re: How long does a Sleepweaver Advance mask last?

I tried the SleepWeaver Advanced for about 6 months. When I was due for replacement I found the SW Élan which I like even better. I don't remember exact timing but I think it was getting close to 2 years by the time I convinced Apria to replace the Élan. Both the head gear and the cloth were well u...

Re: I'm Almost Afraid To Go To Sleep

I haven't read through all of the responses, but you mentioned you are new so you might be tossing and turning and waking up a lot. If so, that will cause centrals. I too had a lot of them when I first started treatment--about 40 per night. Once you settle in and get used to your mask and the machin...

How long does a Sleepweaver Advance mask last?

How long does your Sleepweaver Advance masks last before you have to replace them? Is it the headgear that wears out or the nose piece? I have been using the Advance for a few months now and cycle between two of them. I really like this mask and insurance covers them every 6 months. I want to use th...

Re: Getting new mask -- how to sell old one?

Isadora, another option would be to see if someone wants to make a trade. That allows users to try different masks. There is a thread here for that called "THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE". The URL is: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t93944/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36070&p=865459&hilit=trade#p865459 It isn't...

Re: SleepWeaver Advance (used 2 hours) giveaway

Welcome to the board, Lily! Have you read a few of the posts about fitting the mask? I use that mask and LOVE it. Of course, not every mask is for everyone. One thing I have noticed is that you have to wash your face right before bed and not use moisturizers. Also, using a featherweight hose can hel...
