Humidifier and Germs

I just came down with my first upper respiratory infection since being on c-pap. (about 2 1/2 years.) My question is: Could the humidifier be holding the bacteria and keep introducing them into you night after night?

Re: RLS Again (and Klonopin and pain medication)

Kolonopin has been a wonder drug for me. I do not have rls but have mild anxiety from time to time. I take a .5/mg of kolonopin and it works great. I have to be careful taking it at bedtime though, relaxes me so much I wet the bed once and did not even know it! I am very careful about taking this th...

Re: New procedure for Sleep Apnea

Well, I too don't really like the implant part but I am sure it would be very similar to a pacemaker. The people I know with pacemakers seem to have very few problems. I bet there is not one person on this site that would not love to chuck all this cpap stuff if this turns out to really be a viable ...

Re: New procedure for Sleep Apnea

People, I realize this might not be the best site for this news but if this thing would work, it sure would beat a mask wrapped around your face all night! (not to mention all the associated stuff you have to do with cpap)

Re: New procedure for Sleep Apnea

Here is what I read about it. Any comments?? Using well-established technologies from the fields of cardiac pacing and neurostimulation, Inspire Medical Systems has developed a system specifically to help those who are plagued by that troublesome tongue. The Upper Airway Stimulation (UAS) therapy de...

New procedure for Sleep Apnea

Have any of you people heard or know anything about the Inspire Upper Airway Stimulation? Supposedly there are clinical studies going on with it. My understanding is an implanted stimulator is used to stimulate the base of the tongue, opening up the airway by contracting the muscle. It is called STA...

Claustrophobia

I have been doing fine on CPAP since Nov. '10 but every once in a while I will put my mask on, lay down and then feel like I can't breathe. This is very unnerving and scary and for some reason or another it affects my belly and I get this horrible feeling. Any one else ever experience this?

Re: New and more sleep deprived than ever!

Jennifer, Have you considered nasal pillows? I fought the same mask you have for about a week and decided to try nasal pillows. They are a lot less restrictive and the headgear is alot lighter. Either way it is going to take time. You will soon find that you cannot go to sleep without your mask, giv...

Re: WHAT TO SAY to get better machine

I had to pay an extra $159 to upgrade to a data capable machine. I probably was hosed ( no pun intended) but sometimes it is just easier to switch than fight!
