passover humidifier

You know, my impression of passover humidifers is that they are not useful, at least not to me. Now that I have a good adjustment on my active humidifier, I am really impressed at how much less nasal irritation I get - and I used no humidification for many years. I used a passover humidifier for jus...

Want to say something...

I am not 100% clear here that we have a bad diagnosis - I suspect that it is more a partial tale told by someone who has spent the day in the hospital and was too tired to give us the details. Honestly, I want the rest of the symptoms and disgnosis since, as presented, I'd worry. Look, I've been mar...

would you be interested in a simple program....

Two points: 1. Send the program the letter W. It will respond with what the contents of its so-called trend memory is - that is, as I understand it, a line for every five seconds it has been observing, to the limits of the memory. 2. Would you be interested in a simple program that read the beat-to-...

Combination mask-cpap

All a CPAP is, is a pressure pump, and a sensor. No reason it couldn't be put on a worn appliance, I think. The biggest issue would be changing fan speed, more or less instantly, to react to inhalation. Might be a good thing to locate the power supply remotely. I wonder how much the larger pump and ...

1 CM pressure?

These machines are not so accurate that 1 CM pressure is gonna be a big deal. I just find this diagnosis suspect. I also sort of think you should have called 911 - I have a certain pattern that I'll take anticids for because it has happened so many times, but then you gotta call 911 - and first time...

If you did nothing that should have led him on...

....then maybe he is trying to get his retirement accelerated. Oblige him. This bothers me - and I am aware of it - I'm a big guy and I don't want to get people who help me in the sleep labs nervous - this means no inappropriate comments or actions - especially if the techs are female and alone. So,...

N-200 - setting time

As usual, I was wrong, Holding the low sat and high rate buttons first gives you the opportunity to set the two digit year (0-99) and then the month and day, then the hour and minute. While holding, use the dial to adjust. Release and push again to set the next "thing". I am on the correct minute no...

Final Solution for stinking machine

Wash the machine, inside and out, with Coca-cola. Not diet, the stuff with sugar.

No, it won't improve the smell, but they won't be giving the machine to anyone else either.

Tell them you read it on the Internet.

(Joke alert, joke alert.)

DSM - you are gonna hate me

I taped up the cable without testing it and it worked first time - and I didn't even have access to the cable end to see what the exact colors were - it was cast in plastic so I just cut into it and then figured out which wire I had - and I was lucky - I did not cut into a wire I did not need to cut...

A couple weeks ago I posted an FDA discussion...

...about taking boil-and-bite devices off prescription as has been done in England and, I believe, Canada. My discussion is here and it references the original discussions by the dentists who build them with the FDA panel. Their basic argument is, "We are the best in the business and we get a ton an...

As I understand it...

...what you are asking about is an APAP that works well with flow issues, because, since you don't snore, you won't have a snore index. I can't speak for any APAP other than the Respironics, since that is the only one I've ever used, but I believe that it works fine to reduce hypopnea when you have ...

Me? I snore!

That one hour nap will give me a heck of a sore throat , y'know? I go to bed for intentional naps, because that is where the CPAP is. I will set up the spare one next to my chair when I get enough parts.

gasketing

If the leak is where I think it is, some people use thin teflon tape from the dollar store for things like this. Some people use a little plastic wrap jammed into the parts.

You mean they called you and told you?

I fired a doctor once when they scheduled me and then when I showed up I was told that there were no beds, sorry...and they were not even sirry that I had changed plans to be there that day and then shown up, but tough. I would have been happy had they called me...but I agree that this calls for an ...

Nellcor 200 - how to get computer output from it.

The Nellcor 200 is about $200 on eBay with preamp cable AND reusable sensor. They are frequently less. They seem to be old workhorse devices. They supposedly have 12 hours of memory that can be dumped out through a nine pin serial cable. I have not yet tried to access that memory. I have managed to ...
