Cyclobenzaprine study
Doc gave me cyclobenzaprine for a whiplash / pain in back problem. (This is the first time I've ever been prescribed this.) I found it to be helping a lot with insomnia (keeping me asleep the following morning) and frankly I feel great taking it in the night and getting a lot more rest that night. (...

Re: Adding Oxygen to CPAP
If you sleep in a tiny room with the door closed, you will get carbon dioxide build up. (You can prove/disprove this with a device like an Awair.) If you need supplemental oxygen to counteract this, it seems like you are just playing a balancing act. Why not just open your room door or get an HRV? (...

Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?
How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage? Try sleeping on 100% Egyptian extra-long-staple cotton sheets. Paper is uncomfortable and makes a crinkling noise when you move. Maybe I'm reading into this too far, but once an AHI is below 5, it should be ignored as a fac...

Re: Respiratory Rate wrong while abnormal breathing?
If this "double breathing" is really Ballistocardiographic artifacts why does my Resmed S9 autoset report them as flow limitations and then increase the pressure Because Flow Limitations are part of what the auto adjusting algorithm will try to fight with more pressure and they aren't the same thin...

Re: Respiratory Rate wrong while abnormal breathing?
The only way to know would be to graph the raw data off the card, if it even exists on non bilevel machines. Resp Rate was directly on my card. (Resmed AirSense 10 Autoset) I grabbed EDFbrowser, copied the data off the card, and took a look. The PLD file had the good bits like Resp Rate. (And the f...

Re: Respiratory Rate wrong while abnormal breathing?
My question is whether the data is even recorded on the card... It may not be, it may be that SH is just counting all zero crossings and creating it, since it's there for some machines... Like other things that SH calculates... (Like the I:E ratio.) And probably shouldn't considering the confusion ...

Re: Respiratory Rate wrong while abnormal breathing?
The software available....either SleepyHead or ResScan really only are reporting the data that the machine gathers. So the machine is gathering that double dipping respiration rate and the software simply reports it. Wow. So... bad firmware on the machine. Hah. Kind of funny to me that it's entirel...

Respiratory Rate wrong while abnormal breathing?
I was just about to make a post about my weird high respiratory rate. But I watched that freecpapadvice.com guy yesterday (he's certified and has a lot to share on his youtube). His videos made me think: "sometimes the machine is wrong at categorizing". My chart shows ~50 RR. But I count the actual ...

Re: DMV - Driver's License - Sleep Apnea status
If you need a commercial license, you might be able to count the copay as a business expense. I've heard of this being required for commercial trucker licenses in the past. This is just for a regular license. If it would have been me, I'd have answered "No". With an average AHI of less than 5.0 and...

Re: New To CPAP / Sleephead Review
Thanks for the reply’s!!! The mask still pisses me off every night when I go to bed but I know I have to do it so it is what it is. About the worst part is when I roll over and the hose rubs on the nightstand. It’s like nails on a chalk board to me. Get a hose holder thingy. It will make your entir...

DMV - Driver's License - Sleep Apnea status
Has anyone had to recently apply for DMV driver's license renewal and have the form ask: "Sleep Apnea?" Then... having to answer "Yes" (Because... lie to the DMV? I've been diagnosed by a doctor years ago and the record would be there if someone ever put the pieces together. That would not be nice t...

Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?
If there are too many fluctuations on APAP, and you have a "for her", why not enable ResMed's super-secret mode called.... "for her"? (Which all it really does is has a slower adjustment pressure over time.) It's weird they had to put a feminine spin on it when it's just a different APAP mode.

Re: Is bad Air leak score important if AHI Score is good?
CPAPs don't keep track of how deep of sleep you go into. A leak might interfere with your sleep or do other things that aren't necessarily going to be recorded by your machine. (Anything like dry your eyes / skin / etc.) If your question was: "is it worth it to put in effort to get rid of leaks?" Th...

Re: Cat bites climateline hose while I sleep
If you wrap the hose in a green sleeve, you might be able to make it look like a cucumber. YouTube tells me that cats hate cucumbers.

Re: weight gain
I think I'm fairly deep into this subject. (Having been obese at one point in life, now just a few pounds away from being a normal weight.) Excess calories cause weight gain. You can absolutely control your calorie intake if you have a bit of self control and an app. (It matters less about which spe...
