Fun with DME
I went in with an appointment to purchase a full face mask since it's sinus block time of year. Tech says "I'd love to be able to help you try them out but we don't have an ASV for that" and just hands me a mask to take home. I calmly replied: "But I'm pretty sure you can help me fit it for my top p...

Re: Time for a new sleep study
A doc may pressure you to buy a specific machine or work with a specific DME but cannot force you do so. You have a legal right to receive a paper copy of your prescription. If in worse case scenario he or she writes in a specific machine you can ask for a new script or just note the pressure settin...

Re: Venting a Little and a Question
I had a sleep study before replacing my old ASV. Didn't learn anything new. Just fired the young doctor who prescribed the new one after she threw a fit when I upped my min Epap (which of course she did not notice until I pointed it out). Maybe give your new doc a second chance on something other th...

Re: panic at pressure of 4?
Yup. Increase the pressure or do away with the ramp all together. The first couple of nights starting at 12 may be uncomfortable but you should adapt quickly. After a titration before getting my new ASV the doctor had my minimum Epap set at 5. There was no way I was going to fall asleep at that so I...

Re: "ASV _ BPM Auto, PS min 5.0, PS max 10.0 ????".
The Epap is the pressure that keeps your airway open when you are exhaling. Since min and max are the same that pressure will always be 15. My pressure is 9 min and 15 max so the machine will in erase the pressure above 9 if it senses that I am having an obstruction event. The pressure support is fo...

Re: How to through the titration
Palerider,
I can top that one. I went to a urologist who started talking to me about my issues with chemotherapy for my cancer. Wouldn't believe me that I didn't have cancer until I pulled out my driver's license and told him to compare the name on it with the one on his chart.

Goofproof: Please don't insult people reaching out for help. Drive him/her away and s/he will never use the apap. Let's try to offer some help. Dontholdyourbreath: Please don't give up after one night. The first night (or several) can be really frustrating for people. Sleeping with a mask strapped ...

Re: How To Choose Between Two Bad Presidential Candidates
I live in a city that used to thrive on clothing manufacturing jobs. The unemployed here would be more than happy to sit at a sewing machine. A candidate who keeps saying that he will bring jobs to the US while having many of his own businesses overseas and who has frequently been sued for not payin...

Re: How To Choose Between Two Bad Presidential Candidates
There is a hat manufacturer here in my town. Owned by a Trump supporter in fact. If Trump
truly wanted to make America work again he could have had his campaign slogan caps
made here instead of in China..
Then again maybe he tried but the owner knew he'd get stiffed on payment.

? for 960 ASV users
For the first month my ASV was blessedly quiet compared to my older one. Now it wheezes when it changes to inhalation pressure. Monkeying with the humidifier silences it for a few minutes but then it's back and keeps me awake. Since last week the humidifier light is on even though I have the machine...

Here I go again.
Sitting in parking lot to return the second defective ASV in two months. This one has all kinds of alarms going off that I can't read without my glasses that don't fit over my mask. Humidifier is one. Hopefully the rep is in a good mood. I had to go over her head to Respironics to get the first one ...

There are nights I do. Leaks or odd noises or mashing the mask into my face with the pillow. But I'm alive to be frustrated I guess.

Re: Reason for using a full nasal-mouth mask?
I used to use one all the time because I tend to breathe through my mouth too often. Now I use it when my nose is congested and the nasal mask isn't possible. I'm soon needing crowns for both front teeth. The nasal mask puts pressure against those teeth so the full face mask will be needed for awhil...

Need for modem?
When I got a new ASV in June it had a modem. When the ASV needed to be replaced a few weeks later the tech was out of the office and forgot to leave instructions for a modem on the new one. The tech called me yesterday to come pick one up. Since I will have my three months of compliance finished in ...

Re: Should Hillary Clinton?
You'd have to Bush in too if you are going to indict people for the lies they've told. Not saying she's innocent. Just saying we should treat them all the same.
