Re: Am I the youngest who uses it?
We're a three pap family (my ASV, hubby's cpap and my kid's bipap). My daughter started using her bipap the year she graduated from college.

Re: Trouble building up time
If you are removing it in your sleep, a mask that detaches easily from the hose may not be a good solution - you might well leave the mask on, unattached. Try making it more difficult to remove the mask in your sleep. If you have hair, buy bobby pins and use several of them to pin the headgear to yo...

Re: Breath frequency
I'm going out on a limb here but is it possible that this is an anxiety issue and not a medical one? Sleep labs can and do make mistakes but your preferred setting is vastly different from the prescribed one. You don't need to FEEL the air to be receiving adequate pressure to keep your airway open. ...

Re: OT-Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.......
ASV helped me get rid of bed bugs. I noticed the bites driving home from a very expensive retreat center in the Adirondacks. I picked up some diatomaceous earth and placed it along the threshold of my bedroom and all along the perimeter of my mattress. I was breathing filtered air so I invited them ...

Re: My cat steals my cpap filters!
Respironics used to have vented covers over their filters but the newer machines simply have the filter fully exposed. I dislike the change because the filters can shift when the machine is moved even slightly. I have a small plastic basket with open weave over my ASV. Also because of a cat. Mine li...

Re: Insurance Question - rental and charge for machine
My insurance company did a 9 months rent to own for my ASV which cost me $80 per month. Stupid me bought it in June which means this last month was a new deductible so full price of $250 this payment

Re: Simplus vs Airfit F20...A Newbies Opinion
I tried the Simplus at my DME and could not get a good seal - it just didn't seat on my face very well. I bought an F-20 to replace my Mirage FX. I find that it seals very well. I wake up momentarily once every few nights to swivel the elbow, but I quickly fall back to sleep and probably do often do...

Re: After your initial diagnosis did you get to meet w/a Dr.?
In many cases the doctor doesn't see the patient until he or she has used the machine for awhile. The doc prescribes the machine and settings based on the sleep study and it can be a waste of time and money to spend time with the doctor before there is data from the machine to discuss. There are exc...

Re: ResMed AirFit F20 Full Face Mask
I picked one up to use when my nose is congested. It runs small. Seems to seal well but sometimes when my pressures fluctuate I can feel the mask rise and fall on my face - no air farts just a weird feeling that I will get used to. The gasket does not remove from the plastic face covering which mean...

Re: Breathing - Exhaling
Pillows aren't for everybody. Although over the years many members of this group seem to have a strong preference for them. I can't stand using them (don't like sitting in the back seat of a car with a window down either, and that gives the same sensation to me). Manufacturers make different styles ...

Re: How do you know when you've found the right mask?
Explain "discomfort ". Some minor irritation can be expected and the bridge of your nose may need to toughen up a bit if you have a nasal or full face mask. But it shouldn't actually hurt.

F20 fitting
The DME employee fitted me for a medium but I am pretty sure she goofed. The inner edges of the cushion rest on the outer edges of my lips. I'm thinking they should rest alongside the edges of my mouth rather than actually on my mouth. Am I correct in thinking I should return it and ask for a large?

Re: ResMed F10 VS ResMed F20
I just picked one up today. After trying the men's and the women's, the men's worked better for me at high pressure; the women's leaked too much around the eyes. The DME person stated that most of her female customers are preferring the men's version because the women's is too narrow.
