Re: O.T. Covid Vaccine Reaction in Diabetics?

Thanks for the replies. Mom's GP was vague and not particularly curious about the issue. I think she just didn't know, but didn't want to say so. And the way the clinicals were run, I doubt they ran a test arm against controls for 91 year old Type 1 diabetics. Mom's elevated blood sugar lasted two d...

Re: O.T. Covid Vaccine Reaction in Diabetics?

Thanks for that. I'm not diabetic, but I've noticed that Mom's blood glucose levels go up when my she has had colds. I'm thinking that maybe her current issue with elevated blood glucose might be an indication that her immune system is reacting to the vaccine as if it were fighting off an infection....

O.T. Covid Vaccine Reaction in Diabetics?

I'm posting this question because I expect there might be some folks here who this might affect: Any diabetics out there notice anything funny with your blood glucose levels after getting the vaccine? I took my mom, 91 and a Type I diabetic but otherwise healthy, in to get her first Moderna vaccine....

Re: Another frustrated newbie

Sounds like anxiety is your enemy. A friend, who I knew used a CPAP, once told me that when he got his machine, he knew the risks associated with untreated sleep apnea: increased risk for heart attack, stroke and dementia, among others. He told me he knew some people have trouble adjusting to life a...

Re: Congestion: Please explain how room humidifier would help?

When I first got on the hose, my sleep doc (pulmonologist) said to use a saline nasal spray every night. And to squirt saline while inhaling alternating nostrils until you can taste the salt water running down the back of your throat. He was right. Never had any congestion, even the couple of times ...

Re: S9 Autoset: "Settings Reset to Default Values. Please Contact Service Provider."

I'd still like to know what went bad with yours, but getting any type of operational information out of ResMed is nigh impossible. My best guess is that between your run-hours (22,000+) and the CR2032 not having enough charge (even if it read 3v on meter, it may drop when the machine draws it if of...

Thanks for that. I was wondering the same thing, but haven't yet even opened the manual, such as it is.

Re: New CPAP User Pressure Question

GIve your Medicine Man a chance to tighten up your pressure range. CPAP machines seem to be given to new users set wide open, or very nearly so. Eventually you will want to set the lower and upper pressure limits to about 2cm below and 2cm above your titration pressure, so your machine isn't constan...

Re: S9 Autoset: "Settings Reset to Default Values. Please Contact Service Provider."

Yeah, that's sort of the decision I finally came to. It's just that I really liked that machine. It just worked. The nerd in me wants to calculate the approximate number of revolutions the blower turned over the 23,000-something hours it ran. Pretty amazing piece of technology. I have a machine and ...

Re: Cleaning Your Gear

10 years, here! I rinsed the filter in my S9 Autoset out in the sink maybe twice a year. Then set it out to dry and used it the next night. I don't get why filters like that need to be replaced when they're so easy to wash. They're really only there to filter out cat hairs and lint. Bacteria and pol...

Re: S9 Autoset: "Settings Reset to Default Values. Please Contact Service Provider."

I formatted the card and it formatted OK. Wrote to it and retrieved what I wrote. Then reformatted it and plugged it in and cycled power. Same error message. I got a message from someone at acbio.com, who said they repair S9s, but they need to see it before they can tell me if they can fix it. I thi...

Re: Need Sleep Specialist for non-OSA Sleep Problem

Thank you for all the kind comments. I have read them all, and have read, or bookmarked, the links for review. I'm open to the functional medicine approach, and I read whatever comes across my desk when it sounds promising. My background is as a formulation chemist for a large pharmaceutical company...

I went through the same exercise several years ago. You might want to look at this thread: viewtopic/t73063/UPSZILLA--UPS-Uninterr ... upply.html My S9 Autoset only used about 32 Watts once the water was warm.

Re: Need Sleep Specialist for non-OSA Sleep Problem

There are many neurologists all over, why keep pushing the Mayo thing (good as they are)? Because, even though my wife is an RN, and knows all the docs in her hospital personally, she/we can't get a definitive diagnosis for her condition. 9 surgeries since 2016. Achilles' tendon snapping for no rea...

Ooh. Sorry about that. I haven't been on here in a while and it looks like some setting changed somehow. I'm accessible now.
