Re: S9 Autoset: "Settings Reset to Default Values. Please Contact Service Provider."
Today my backup machine arrived. I now have two DreamStation Autos with Humidificator and heated hoses. Both from our sponsors at CPAP.com. I spent three nights in friggin' agony propped up in bed trying not to choke on my throat while waiting, over a Thanksgiving that wasn't one, for expedited ship...

Re: Using Cpap during a Vertigo attack
You've been given some good advice: Run this all by your doc. However, for some perspective, I had several bouts of vertigo a few years ago. Bouts seemed to correspond to movements of my head. The worst one I had was when I lay down in bed. Suddenly the room began spinning, and though I knew, intell...

Re: Need Sleep Specialist for non-OSA Sleep Problem
Thanks, all, for your responses. Yes, the pulmonologist, as I said, as if without thinking, prescribed a machine for her. She wasn't diagnosed with OSA, but the Doc said she thought it might help. Pressure is, get this: 5 to 7. Really! The machine DOES eliminate her snoring, for which I'm grateful! ...

Need Sleep Specialist for non-OSA Sleep Problem
My wife, RN with 30 years' experience, has a number of physical problems. Broken back from a fall, nerve pain, and a number of connective-tissue injuries that seem to be slow to heal. Orthopod said her shoulder and later, her Achilles' tendon were the consistency of Jell-o when he saw them during su...

Re: S9 Autoset: "Settings Reset to Default Values. Please Contact Service Provider."
Laguna Beach, CA. Just received my DreamStation from our sponsor, CPAP.com. Then clicked on the e-mail that had been bugging me for a couple of weeks and found that I could have saved 20% on the DreamStation that I bought. Crap! Just received it this afternoon. It's none too soon. My overnight study...

Re: S9 Autoset: "Settings Reset to Default Values. Please Contact Service Provider."
Thanks, all. I ordered a new machine from CPAP.Com and it should be here Friday. Only have to get through two nights without it. Last night was rough. Can't believe I went through that EVERY night for so long. But I found a position I can sleep in that's not too bad. Left side with chin elevated see...

S9 Autoset: "Settings Reset to Default Values. Please Contact Service Provider."
Just returned to my elderly Mom's house for Thanksgiving. It was a 19 hour drive from the Seattle area. Left at 0300 this morning. Just arrived. Was looking forward to a good night's sleep. Plugged in my S9 Autoset which I bought in 2009 and got the above message. The unit appears to be bricked. Tot...

Re: Old distilled water
That's right. I guess I didn't explain very well. In the original poster's case, it's not the bacteria that are responsible for the symptoms described. It's their metabolic byproducts. Kind of like why you and I might not want to use the pool at the YMCA after the Water Babies class ended and Moms w...

Re: Old distilled water
However, there are bacteria ( Pseudomonas spp.) that can grow in distilled water, using the carbon in the plastic as their sole carbon source. They can even grow on stainless steel surfaces with no carbon source. Nobody really knows how they do that. Kinda evokes images of the Andromeda Strain. http...

Re: Why is OSA usually treated with PAP therapy??
Surgery's no panacea.
Sometimes the "best" treatment isn't what you or I think it should be.

Re: What do you do with your hose?
No need to make your bood-wah look like a sick-room with all kinds of DME-sourced paraphernalia hanging about. Here's a photo of my hose situation. Notice it's snaked behind a desk lamp to the S9 placed on the far side. The lamp has plenty of mass to resist pulling the S9 off the table, should I rol...

Re: Necessary to wean off of EPR?
Nope. Just 'cause someone posts something on a public forum doesn't mean it's true, or they know what they're posting about. The obstruction part of OSA takes place during inspiration (breathing in). That's the stage of breathing that it's most important to support by means of increased pressure. On...
