Re: Can a pillow worsen apnea?
I got chewed out a while back by saying the buckwheat pillow was hard as a rock for me. At the risk of being kicked off this site, I think it's a Fred Flintstone-type pillow. But that's only my opinion, and you asked for them. Pillows are personal. Some folks like what I like and and vise versa. Ear...

Re: DME supplier recommendations
I have used areoflow for a year. I was previously stuck with Apria (Crapria) for maybe 10 years due to my HMO. ANYTHING is better than Crapria. My daughter called them for the first time the other day and she told them they "were so rude!". I smiled thinking "that's my Crapria". If you use Areoflow,...

Re: Need a New Machine
My daughter bought a new Resmed from our host (cpap.com) yesterday. I was a good deal because of the black Friday sale. You might want to check to see if you can get a new machine at a good price.

Re: Beginner's Problems
If all our therapy success depended on what our first mask was, we wouldn't have made it in cpap therapy. Mine was a liberty, and it was a nightmare. Unless you want to go thru the issues of keeping your mouth closed all night, as LSAT says, you'll need to use a full face mask. I purposely keep my m...

Re: New Guy here, South Central Virginia my introduction
I was recommended Aeroflow by members here when I went on Medicare. They may require a new prescription . . . They wouldn't take my five-year-old prescription. I may go to the sleep doc just to get a script so I can stock up before the end of the year. Do you know if they require a new prescription...

Re: New Guy here, South Central Virginia my introduction
You need to ask your DME if they will accept Medicare and start sending your supplies to you. I was recommended Aeroflow by members here when I went on Medicare. They may require a new prescription, but when it's time for new supplies, they email me a list, and I check off what I need, and it comes ...

when this happens to me, I use the new machine nightly, and the old machine becomes my backup machine.

Re: CPAP & Hospitals
I've had 4 hospitals stays this year. The wife has had enough experience now on packing/unpacking the machine and setting it up for me. She's a saint. Early on, I made a list, so she would know. Sheriff Yes, I always say this. Have a dedicated packing list and keep it in the CPAP bag. Besides not w...

Maybe it's just your nature. I wake up a lot during my sleep, but I do not have trouble falling back to sleep.

Re: Brand New to CPAP and STRUGGLING
Almost every person that wears the cpap mask has gone thru your experience. I remember thinking the same thing. It seems you are probably going to need the full-face mask, due to your mouth breathing. I keep my mouth open all night, because like you, I have nasal issues. Ask for the Resmed F20 mask....

Re: Increased AHI late
I'm the same way. Most of my events are just before I wake up. And... like you, my AHI's will spike up, but I have had some serious health issues lately, so I attribute my squirrely numbers to my health issues. I've almost stopped looking at my numbers. I have decided that as long as I feel good (Cp...

Re: thinking about trying a mask liner, do they seal ok?
For me..... they do not. My leak rates are high. But I use the Philips Total Mask and the mask leaves red marks on my cheeks. But I love the comfort the liners provide. As far as leaks, they don't wake me up and my AHI stays low (around a .5), so my machine can compensate for the leaks. Sheriff Wow...

Re: Home sleep tests.
See if your insurance will approve a home study.... if so... what brand. I'm thinking the home sleep study won't be as accurate, but good enough to tell you if you have apnea or not.
