Re: I believe I am addicted.........
Oh yeah. Two weekends a month, I stay with my disabled father and care for him while his live-in caregiver has the weekend off. I was late and in a hurry one Saturday morning and forgot my equipment. Never again. I now have a back up machine (and supplies) stored in my car. I can't even lie in bed a...

Re: No data on Encore Viewer
I have the same problem every now and then (I have PRSys1 Auto). Try removing the SD card, unplugging the machine from the power source, let it sit about 30 sec, plug it back in and insert SD card. Readout says something like "data activity do not remove card" and when it's done transferring data, t...

Re: Sleep Apnea, to treat or not to treat!!!
I feel fine and have no symptoms other than loud snoring which my wife tolerates. I thought the same thing, until I had been on therapy a couple of months and found out what it was like to really sleep. I don't ever remember sleeping the way I do now. As far as the snoring, my husband tolerated it,...

Re: Maybe AHI<5 is not possible for me
I expect the 7.8 to continue to come down as I get used to the higher pressure. It's only been about a week . It's easy to get impatient and be too hard on yourself. But, remember, you are on a different machine, different settings and "it's only been about a week." Not very long in the scheme of t...

Re: which oximeter?
I use a finger tip unit (CMS50E). It works well. The main issues are how to keep it on all night, I'm curious about these, also. Can one use tape to keep it on the finger, if necessary? I'm thinking of buying one. Not so much to monitor my O2 levels, but I have a daughter that seriously needs a sle...

Re: Request advice concerning initial APAP setting
I plan to increase the settings tonight to 5/12 and see what happens. Anyone have suggestions? Is this a reasonable approach? John, if this were me, I'd leave the settings alone for a few nights, mabye a week. An AHI of 3.1 for the first night is pretty good. Give yourself a chance to get used to t...

Re: Firefighter new to cpap, in need of some help.
At this point I'm ready to give up on a full face mask. Naegling, hang in there. The hardest part for me was finding a mask. I tried 9 different ones (4 of them full-face) before I found one that really works for me. I tried a couple through my DME, but found others on things like craigslist and th...

Re: I love Titrations
Come on, people, you can't complain about the state of knowledge in sleep medicine if you aren't willing to contribute by enrolling yourselves and your snore-free spouses as subjects! Well, Uncle_Bob should be a shoo-in, since he started the post. And if I recall correctly, he used to have some del...

Re: Mucus at the back of the throat
Debbie, do you have allergies? My daughter was snuffing and snorting all the time, said it felt like mucus in the back of her throat. She finally spoke to a doctor, who asked a bunch of questions and ran a few tests. It was suggested she try a gluten-free diet. Within a few days, the mucus was gone....

Re: How long did it take for CPAP results to show?
I'm not quite sure how to respond to this, since I showed "results" immediately...my family reports I stopped snoring from the first night, I quit kicking and the covers remain on the bed.
It took me almost 3 1/2 months to feel "better."
