Re: Using health insurance and bypassing DMEs...

I agree completely! I'm still arguing with a local DME -- they are charging me a copay that is twice what I could buy the equipment for online -- and that's after the insurance company has paid their part! Ridiculous.

Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on

I saw it tonight, and I was fascinated by it! It took a lot of attention to keep up with, but I thought it was great. My husband and I agreed that we need to see it again to catch some of the points we may have missed. The ending left me up in the air though! I definitely recommend it.

Re: SINUS INFECTIONS

A Neti Pot works well too. You can get one in any drug store. You use it to rinse your sinuses out with warm salt water. It really does help.

Me: I'm concerned about the leaks I'm feeling on my cheeks
RT: The leaks are nothing to worry about unless they are severe enough to wake you or your husband.

Re: O/T 106 pounds lost and 34 to go.

So far it looks like the loss of weight has allowed me to bring the my usual pressure of 17 down to 12.5 while maintaining an AHI of 2 but I am still tweaking it. For me this is wonderful becaue it was a total pain in the butt trying to keep the mask from leaking now that I do not have a fat face. ...

Re: O/T 106 pounds lost and 34 to go.

I'm bumping this back to the first page because I, too, want to know what happened with his pressures. I've lost about 50 # in 6 or 7 months and have now started getting more air into my stomach. I believe my pressure needs to be reduced, but I have to wait until my Dr. appointment in August to have...

Re: The adventure is about to begin....

The other question I have is why is the DME charging me and my insurance company $1600 for a $800 machine? All the talk about healthcare costs over the past two years and then you see something like this and it amazes me. Given that cpap.com must have some small margin, that means that the DME's ma...

Re: Ridiculous quotes and deeds by doctors and DMEs

Me: Why do I owe over $850 in out of pocket costs for a machine and mask that I could buy on the internet for less than $400 cash? DME: Because we file your insurance for you. Me: The DME has billed you over $3200 over 10 months for a machine I could have purchased myself for under $300. Insurance c...

EPR? EDR?

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but I've looked in the Wiki, and also on some of the machine descriptions on cpap.com, and I still don't know what EPR or EDR is. Please define this for me?
Thanks!

Good question -- I'm over 2 years into it. It still bugs me. Hubby was used to his within the first 2 weeks.

mamaguinnie: the one you bought from CVS: is it for upper or lower teeth? what happened to your 3 other ones? Use 1 in lower and check 2 because they do not fit anymore? I cannot imagine using a dumb CPAP. This is like driving with your eyes closed. If I were you, I will buy a data-capable CPAP fro...

Re: Provider charges to insurance

I'm not sure turning in the last machine will do anything, since mine is all paid for, and hubby's 10 month rental period is up; insurance has paid their part and we owe the $850 co-pay for a $300 machine and a $60 mask. I think both machines are ours, whether we want them or not. I do want to point...

Re: Provider charges to insurance

Yeah, I'll be talking to both the Insurance company and the DME about this issue. It may not get me anywhere, but they'll know how I feel about being screwed over. My Nurse Practitioner (I've never seen the MD) is really good and caring. But it is troubling that the DME is next door -- not legally c...

Re: still having problems after 2 years

Thank you, responders to this post, and to everyone else on this site for opening my eyes. I do have options that haven't been offered to me. I'll make it clear that I am the one in control here, as in every other aspect of my health care. If I don't, no one will, and I already know that to be a fac...
