Re: Oximeter help
What Clay said. Plus-- To view the report, you have to click the printer icon. Someone here reported they were able to use a generic USB cable. I had to use the one that came with the oximeter to get things working. If you don't set the time, the horizontal axis on the report will just number hours ...

Re: Advice on "Sleepweaver Advance" wanted
If you can use the SW, you'll love it. It's so comfortable. A lot of us, including me, can't get the leaks down to an acceptable level. I don't think the size of your head has anything to do with the leaks. If you have a big nose, there's just not enough room inside the SW, so it won't fit all the w...

Re: Retraining Throat Muscles to Control Sleep Apnea
Isn't that the idea behind digeridoo for OSA?
The problem is that it's no small undertaking. The circular breathing is an elusive trick, not that many people are willing to spend 3 hours or so per week blowing into a dige., and not that many spouses, neighbors and pets are willing to endure it.

Re: Sleep aids and sleep apnea
ambien seems to work, has anyone tried restoril? Restoril (temazepam) is an older, generic benzodiazepine. For most people, it feels about the same as Ambien, and it has a longer duration. But it does interfere more with sleep architecture and has a somewhat higher risk of tolerance and dependence....

Re: AHI measured vs sleep time (is no sleep low AHI )
jamiswolf, you raise a useful point. Contrary to the recommendations of "sleep hygiene," it is possible to lie in bed pleasantly awake. I can do this sometimes, meditating, reminiscing, feeling the breeze, playing music in my head (best to avoid Sousa marches, 1812 Overture, etc. ) At those times, I...

Correct. In the US, all OTC sleep aids contain diphenhydramine 25 mg., the same as Benedryl. It's the only one approved for OTC.cnew wrote:
Maybe I'll try benedryl (Simply Sleep) is just benedryl, isn't it? Thanks for your comment.

I keep trying to make SW work for me. I've used various liners, silicone ear plug stuff, and taping it on. I've tried elastoplast to stretch out my nasolabial folds. I've even tried sackcloth and ashes. Maybe the blister bandages will work.

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
clomazepam is highly addictive I don't like the idea of being on another drug anyway, and to tell the truth, the doc was kind of on the fence about it, too. So, I think I may hold off on it, especially since it didn't seem to help me last night. In fact, I woke up earlier and in a worse mood! The d...

RE AFib: Have you found this useful site? http://afibbers.org/ In the section about magnesium, they offer this useful method of insuring magnesium intake. Re: AHI events while awake???
My AHI is usually between 6 and 10, so naturally I am wondering if I should be concerned about that, if I should be striving for an AHI < 5 You may be doing better than you think. If you subtract the number of events flagged while you were probably awake, as well as the CA's flagged while you were ...

Yes, DD, it was clear he was grinding an ax. However, it seems to me that his point, that awareness and use of HBOT is less than ideal, is valid. Consider how long it took Mike's doctors to use it for a condition in which evidence for efficacy is strong. And Mike's son is a physician.

Re: Help interpreting oximetry data
bombadil, here are a couple of points that may help. 1. A 5-10% drop of the green line in a few seconds is physiologically impossible and always some kind of artifact. Try this yourself. Hold your breath and watch the oximeter. You'll see that it takes around 1-2 minutes to lower your pO2 below 90%....
